im getting sick of beeing booted from public games for causes a single betrayal. this just happened again when i worked my -Yoink- to be top of my team get on a roccket hog fired the weapon kill a red player and i hit a blue by acident and i get kicked and lose all ym hard work and effort of points. the kick is BS and needs sorting…
it happened a few matches ago to a friend a mongoose drove straight in to our hog and got killed yet my m8 got booted for a betrayal that wasnt even his fualt utter joke!
The game recognizes patterns of betrayals. So for example, in a match, it normally takes 2-3 betrayals before a boot window appears. However, if you get booted, it only takes 1 betrayal in the next game for the boot window to pop up.
Now, of course, I’d love to see more people recognize accidents and choose to forgive betrayals (booting players for accidental betrayals is idiotic because it puts your team at a disadvantage), but that will never happen. So if this is a reoccurring problem you have, it sounds like you just need to be more careful. If you accidentally get booted from a game, you have to play a game or two without betrayals so that the game forgets.
Some people don’t care if it’s an accident and boot anyway, sometimes even just because they find it amusing. Back in Reach I even had the fortune of coming across a guy that was going around being a jerk, and when he finally got betrayed he sat AFK until ten seconds left in the game before booting the person. shakes head sadly
Heck, I’ve gotten booted for being lasered out of a vehicle in both Reach and Halo 4, with the passenger getting counted as a betrayal for some weird reason, and yet before the announcer can even finish saying “Betrayal!” I’m looking at the loading screen, waiting to be returned to the lobby.
I personally never boot unless I seriously doubt it was an accident. Come around a corner as you’re firing a mantis barrage? Accidents happens.
I jump into the turret of an enemy wraith/scorpion as someone plants a grenade? My fault for not paying attention.
You laser a banshee out of the sky and the debris lands on me? I bust up laughing and move on.
I don’t like bogging down the experience for other people just because an accident happened on the battlefield.
How about they change the button configuration so that you don’t hit “X” to boot someone right after you die and are about to hit “X” so you can respawn faster? I’ve accidentally booted people because I’m just anxious to get to my next life.

This… This definitely. Every time I get betrayed I always hold my breath and stop spamming the ‘X’ button (Which has become a second instinct for me because of the “Respawn Now/Faster” feature) and wait a second or two to see if the Boot Screen comes up or not. If it doesn’t, I start spamming X.
I’ve come so close to booting an innocent bystander because I was in a rush to respawn after the Scorpion I was hijacking suddenly decided it didn’t want to be on this planet anymore ^^;
I only boot if it’s obviously intentional, that being said I’ve yet to be booted in this game. Just watch what you’re doing and you’ll be fine.
Well, i normally boot someone when it is clear they came after me but if it is in the heat of battle I don’t think much of it. Probably was a stray shoot to a grenade that didn’t quite land properly. But sometimes i laugh at accidental betrayals. like how a few games ago I was on a Rampage and i Jump of the base on Ragnarok to get a clear sight on my target and while scoped in a guy was about to assassinate me but a friendly Warthog ran him and me over. I shocked but, when my body was flying thought the air a red guy was too. So I assumed that the driver was trying to save me but things didn’t go so well so I let it pass. The guy didn’t have a headset nor do i recall his GT but it could of been on purpose but the way see it is investigate first than boot if it is called for.
It has happened time to time where i might betray someone on accident and when I say i didn’t mean to. Some people are just rage apes.
