Boosters caught in Grifball

I was searching up a good ol’ game a grifball and when I joined the lobby, I was greeted by a very large party of players. Only another player and I weren’t in this party and he left, so it ended up with only me not in this group of friends.

As the game began, it didn’t take me long to figure out that all these players were boosting. They were taking turn killing enemies that were splitscreen users that were not even there. They even tried to talk me into joining in.

So of course, what could be more fun than spoiling the fun for boosters? It ended up with me foiling their plans.

NOTE: If anyone wants me to, I can upload the footage to my file share. (I think I have it saved.)

Message to boosters: Don’t ruin the fun of a video game for yourself and don’t bring shame to high-ranking players that actually EARN their rank. Taking pride in something you earned, even in a video game, is a great feeling.

Happens all the time. You don’t need to point out their gamertags.
It’s just what Grifball has been reduced to.

Sigh, it just sucks that this is what a large portion of gamers do nowadays. A medal can’t be branded legitimate or not, and getting a legendary medal is nothing to brag about anymore. :frowning:

Agreed, get rid of those “tags” before some’in happens. But OT: doesn’t surprise me at all. My friends wonder why I stopped playing Grifball and every time I tell them “you want to be spawn-camped, boosted upon, or stuck with horrible players? If so, then join right in!”

Note: Bad players are those who just betray for no reason.

Grifball boosting and betray-trolling both suck, but alas, I don’t think Reach’s systems support the changes that’d be necessary to discourage such boosting. To truly put a stop to it, the playlist would have to stop affecting K/D, stop affecting commendations, and only reward credits for wins (with shorter games offering larger payouts). :\

Out of curiosity, though, how did you foil the boosters’ plans?

(Sorry, didn’t know about that rule with the tags.) I just wish the game or at least X-Box Live had a better way to report boosters. I’ve also heard loads of complaints of the betrayal system, especially in Grifball. It’s like the betrayer isn’t even punished – at all!

It was surprisingly quite easy. I just beat forty shades of red out of them and scored as many times as I could. It was pretty easy to get by them, they’re boosters after all and aren’t very skilled. So, we got back to the lobby, they said some hateful things, I laughed, and they all left. I’d imagine they ended up boosting in another game, but at least they’ll watch out for me next time they boost, although I can’t imagine myself going back to Grifball for awhile.

I think gamertags should be put out there so everyone know’s who the booster’s are, just my opinion.

If you wish to discuss the rule against calling out people’s gamertags, feel free to start a thread on it in the Waypoint or General Discussion sections.

Boosting does happen too much, and it will be difficult for 343 to do enough to remove the incentives for boosting, and most likely they won’t be willing to go far enough to do so in reach or future games; though it does sound like they’re trying a little bit for halo 4. It sucks to get matched into that sort of lobby when you’re just trying to play the game, and at least to me it feels like a waste of time to kill your guest controllers to increase your medals/kills/credits in this game, especially since it’s easy enough to get credits while playing more fun gametypes. At least it used to be coughWhyDidSomeNewishCompanyMurderSoManyOfMyFavoritePlaylistscough.

Are you not allowed to post links to game stats on waypoint?

No. That’s the “rules” to. Ironic how we follow these yet we can’t post the stats of people who disregard the ACTUAL terms of service by ruining it for others… ha…ha…

Boosters tent to camp on ledges, with the ball while their party members abuse randoms for kills.
