I’m really not sure how I feel about skins in general in Halo. A big positive is that it creates room for microtransactions that focus on cosmetic upgrades only, so big developers can still rake in some cash from them without upsetting the balance of the game play. But as a personal preference, I just don’t like cosmetic upgrades like this (not just BoomCo cosmetics, but cosmetics in general). Changing the color of your Spartan is one thing, but having a vibrant and strangely designed rifle is just kinda off when you consider that Halo started out as a simple military sci-fi FPS game. Crazy cosmetics start venturing into the domain of Fortnite and Apex, and I just don’t like that.
That’s fine if some people feel differently, but I thought I’d throw in my two cents on the matter.

Completely agree with you on this subject. I would rather see no weapon skins at all when it comes to Halo. Just give the guns a nice gritty texture like the one’s in reach and I’ll be happy.
As far as the playful skins go, I think Boomco skins are somewhat acceptable since they are directly tied with Halo merchandise. Plus, each skin is one uniform color so it’s not like they look too crazy like those damn pizza skins.
Otherwise, I’m in a similar group as the ones who have commented before me. Skins have a place in Halo for sure since they allow players to have a more personal experience. But they should be appropriate for the universe. Seeing stuff like the pizza skins is quite obnoxious for me as a player, but I also can’t imagine any Spartan commander permitting his/her soldiers to drop into battle with stuff like that.
If you listen to the way stuff like Warzone is dealt with, all the dialog and objectives are super serious with all signs pointing toward it being an interpretation of the military in the future. Loud and weird skins in no way serve to further that setting.
Kinda cool. But instead of having weapon skins, they should have a thing where you get to have your weapon look (and sound) like the older variants. For instance, you can take the new Assault rifle, and make it a Halo 3 Assault Rifle.
