I haven’t really posted a definitive opinion on Halo 4 since launch because I have a very bipolar approach to my opinions on the game.
But one thing for sure needs to go: Boltshot from loadouts!
I’m sorry, but you might as well equip players with a shotgun. You know how many times I have completely out-played somebody tactically… only to be hand-shot-gunned down.
And don’t tell me “ADAPT, NOOB” or “LEARN HOW TO COUNTER IT!”… Because seriously, the way these noobs have become the masters of being noobs, it is completely unavoidable death a lot of the time.
Sorry for the pointless rant, but it is seriously the new armour lock, and is actually WORSE.
EDIT: I don’t that armour is LITERALLY worse, I mean in relativity to the balance-breaking that it causes. The boltshot is either worse, or perhaps, the same.

So basically what you’re saying is that the player that bested you using legitimate tactics, is a NOOB? That term gets thrown around a little too much. If you want to look a noobs, I suggest you look in the mirror. Regardless of what you think, you blindly charged at an enemy without caution, you didn’t think that you were being baited, and you died as a result of bad tactics. It’s not the gun, it’s the player. Change something in your play style before you go off calling everyone who bests you a noob.
By the way, the boltshot isn’t the new armor lock, the hard light shield is.
The boltshot removes a need for tactics, and you have no way to know if they have a boltshot or not unless you pay attention to intricate detail in the heat of battle… Which nobody does.
I didn’t blindly charge, don’t assume. Many times I’ve out-DMR’d them successfully, but the majority of the time it is them just invisi-crouching around a corner.
There’s no longer the thrill of jumping around a corner and waging DMR/BR war, it is hoping that the player you are battling actually possesses skill, and doesn’t have a loadout shotgun.
This isn’t JUST about your deaths involving the Boltshot. Consider this:
> The fact that if it doesn’t kill you it certainly almost does more times than your deaths showing up with your stats. I’ve been saying this for a while and no one seems to care even though this will clear up SO much confusion and bull behind weapon kills- Weapon Carry & Damage Distribution Chart, NOT a kill chart.
See which weapons are doing the most damage.
See which weapons are being abused.
See which weapons are being used incessantly.
See which weapons are being used as a primary within each match.
See which peoples carry time with each weapon.
See which people have what weapons as their loadouts.
See which weapons are often used in their loadouts.
See which weapon loadouts they’re using in each match.
See which people actually bought which weapons.
You really want to talk about the Boltshot, get 343i to give us a real chart of who is actually using what and using it when and how often. This can be applied to the Boltshot and then you can really see how many people use it or plans on using it.
You may also consider these questions:
How many times have you died from the Boltshot in the form of a one shot kill when they’re camping corners??
How many times have you died from the Boltshot in the form of a one shot kill when they aren’t camping?
How many times have you died from the Boltshot being overcharged shot twice?
How many times have you died from the Boltshot being fired like a Mauler/Plasma Pistol and then having them use a different weapon to finish you off?
How many times have you almost died from the Boltshot, but you barely survive?
How many times have you killed a person that had a Boltshot next to their dead body?
ALL this attributes to the fact that people within matchmaking thrive on the Boltshot because it’s easy and effective.
> I’m gonna have to agree. Either that or severely nerf it. It’s really OP.
It’s true. Then again, the concept of loadouts in Halo is horrible to begin with unless they can execute it correctly… Which it is so far isn’t doing so well.
Equal-footing and individual skill is slowly dying.

I’m calling you on this. Just in slayer, out of your 2600 or so kills, you have been killed by the boltshot 14 times. That’s just one gametype. Considering your K/D, you are over exaggerating how many times you die for the boltshot. It’s not that bad.
> > Hey woah woah woah, the Boltshot is bad but no need to go around saying things like it’s worse than Armor Lock
>
> Armour lock has a counter, the boltshot simply does not in many instances unless the boltshot user is terrible.
Well I dunno I haven’t really gotten that many Boltshot users, maybe I’m just lucky, I don’t know. So to me Armor Lock was much much worse, but maybe that’s just because I encountered it more.

I don’t anger in relativity to my perspective for this, it is an application to the grand state of Halo multiplayer.

Exactly! How many times you die from it isn’t the only factor. It’s how many times people using it have caused you to die when you wouldn’t otherwise.

Ok. I died as a result of the plasma pistol, I want it removed. I had the guy one shot and he threw up a hard light shield, I want that removed too. Oh yeah, every time I shoot at a guy he turns tail and runs. I want sprint gone too. Do you see where I’m going with this. If you took into consideration how many instances you died from a weapon, you would have a book that is too long to read. Bottom line, someone got owned, then they get on the forums with a hissy fit. Figure out a way to avoid it, or find another game to play.

If you actually paid attention to what this thread was about instead of doing comparison with other ideas as bad examples, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
I’m talking about a One Shot Kill gun as a starting weapon. Meaning, it kills you, meaning it puts you into the respawn screen, meaning you can take a few seconds grab a drink.
I’m talking about specifics where you are just generalizing.

I don’t die from it that much, neither does my team. I know the maps, I know what to expect, I solve the problem. Apparently problem solving eludes this generation.

Oh, so you’re playing against bots and AI’s right? Know what to expect at every turn?
The fact is simple there is always the unknown and the unexpected no matter how prepared you are. You’re not solving the problem by creating an avoidance or counter to a broken weapon, you’re creating an excuse for people to thrive in matchmaking with the weapon.

I would agree except for the fact you can SPAWN with a shotgun that can also be used as a pistol. That description is more powerful than a power weapon, and you can have it off spawn. The game is broken balance wise, and you defending it clearly shows you know nothing about tactics and strategy.
The Boltshot was meant to be an OP gun, but in it’s current state, it is way too OP. The 1-shot kill should require your opponent to be in melee range, not anything beyond that.

Say this same form of ridiculousness when you’re playing Regicide and being shot from the front and behind.
