After playing the new FFA, it took me a while to get use to the new Boltshot range. People weren’t dying at the longer ranges and it had me killed. When I also saw an enemy approach me while he was charging one up, I was very cautious. The shot didn’t kill me, but i finished him off. Now, back then when I had an ordinance option for a shotgun or scattershot, I simply ignored it when I had the boltshot before the nerf. Now i pick the shotgun anytime I have the option in ordinance because it is now effective. Don’t get me wrong though, the Boltshot is a great defensive weapon when being chased around corners. I’m glad 343 kept the one shot kill in the Boltshot, it would have been useless if they didn’t.

I love the Boltshot nerf! I used to be one of the very few people who used the Boltshot at melee-range.

Needs to just lower shields like plasma pistol IMO. Oh well, 343 took the “Halo” out of Halo 4 in other ways than just the boltshot

This. It’s still ridiculous that you can spawn with a one hit kill weapon. They should’ve left it alone and just put it in ordinance.
It’s weaker in loadouts, which is a good thing.
But it’s also weaker as an on-the-map weapon, which is a bad thing for competitive settings.

Yes the nerf was effective in making the Boltshot less powerful but its still a 1sk capable weapon. It shouldn’t have the ability to 1 shot.

Did you download a 30-something MB update from Xbox live when you start halo4? If so, that was the update.

I remember one from last week, just not sure when unfortunately. Additionally, don’t use the boltshot too extensively so most of the changes have gone unnoticed. And finally strolling through the twitter feed I’d imagine some mention of the TU going live but meh o-o No skin off my nose

seems they took some umf off the magnum as well. might be just me

I never use the boltshot, and never really cared at all about it. I didn’t even know it was nerfed, just that people have been complaining about it for 2 months.
Magnum all the way.
It would have been better without the OHK.
Let it be a Mauler you’ve got to charge to balance the fact you can spawn with it.
