Boltshot is broken

As the title states the Boltshot is absolutely broken.

After playing King of the Hill and 4 shotting a corner camper only to get my face blasted off by a charged shot, I really am tired of this filth weapon.

It promotes camping, forces games to a stand still.

It has too much range. (3 times sword lunge)
Charges far too quickly.
Insta-kills through Overshield (Rocket Launcher takes 2 to kill)
Is better than scattershot (in terms off Scatter taking 3 shots in laggy games)
Makes only one noise before it kills.
Can potentially kill 8 people in one life.
Plasma can do 3-4 charges, Boltshot 8.

Now as we know, the AR styled weapons are up against the odds when the enemy are using BR/DMR, now the AR user has to close that gap, but the guy with boltshot has to run to cover, hold Right trigger for half a second and instakills his opponent when he should be dead.

If the gun was a pick up, I’d have no reason to argue, but as everyone is using it on objective games and waiting to blast someone when their no shield is down right pathetic. And yes I could use Promethean vision but why have I got to alter my entire playstyle for a sidearm?

I propose either a fix in next update or make it a pick up weapon, the fixes I would suggest would be a longer reload time, a longer charge time, range reduction or less ammo carry-able such as 10 spare.

Let me know your thoughts and reasons.

i agree the boltshot is ridiculous

I think halving the clip would fix this issue.

It’s called keeping distance at a little distance this thing is useless, also strafing makes it hard to hit, in no way is it broken it just takes a little strategy to beat.

People need to stop claiming things are broken and learn to get round them.

Boltshot is minishotgun. Everything is okay with it. :\

It punishes people who rush for kills (which is a good thing) and most of your points are wrong

It has too much range. (3 times sword lunge) - they need to be inside all 3 “rings” on the reticle, which means they basically need to be in melee range or very very close to it

Charges far too quickly. - I can agree with this. Pulling off double kills is really easy with it

Insta-kills through Overshield (Rocket Launcher takes 2 to kill) - no it doesn’t. I have Boltshot’d OS and it only ripped it off or left them with about half a shield left. If you killed somebody through OS, I guarantee they had taken plenty of previous damage or their OS was VERY close to running out anyways

Is better than scattershot (in terms off Scatter taking 3 shots in laggy games) - the Scattershot doesn’t need to be charged, can be fired multiple times in succession, and has more range than the Boltshot does

Makes only one noise before it kills. - what?

Can potentially kill 8 people in one life. - lol

Plasma can do 3-4 charges, Boltshot 8. - they have different applications but I can agree you can use it too many times. Even though it takes half your clip when you charged it, if you only have a single bullet left, you can still charge for the charged shot. I’m not sure I agree with that

So no, I wouldn’t say it’s “broken,” however there are a few things they could change about it and it would probably be for the better

it’s not broken learn how to avoid it.

As someone who has used this weapon, this is a high risk/reward weapon I killed a lot with it but I have died a lot because I used it, It would be over powered if it could hold a charge like a plasma pistol, but it cant so it is fine.
I have died so many time because i miss-timed the charge.

That is flawed logic, how do they know you are coming if you dont know they are there?

The charge isn’t instant, it gives you enough time to fark off.

Example - Come around a corner, see some one charging up, then run away before they kill you and shoot them to death.

Also if you hold the charge too long it automatically fires using 5 rounds and incurring a short fire lock so that you cant shoot for a few seconds. Therefore missing with the gun is a death sentence against any player that has their television turned on.

Agreed.

And to make it worse I can’t effectively use it due to massive lag, nor judge how far away I need to be from other players.

How about not blindly charging round corners?

It’s not a broken gun, it just shouldn’t be a starting weapon. A starting weapon should never beat power weapons in their niche on any circumstances. Boltshot < Alien shotgun.

Your points are the points of someone who charges in, learn not too.

If someone hides round a corner after you take the shield off that kind of should let you know they have something up there sleeve no?

> Those are your experiences, not mine. My friend got 6 kills with this weapon staying in the same area before he even unlocked the gun, just picking it from dead bodies.
>
> I can tell you now, no word of a lie, that i have been killed in 1 shot with an undamaged fresh overshield, about 3 times in fact. the fact the charge is an insta kill and a starting weapon is completely stupid. Due to this my friend pretty much carries on using the same tactic, hide, wait, look, charge, insta kill

> He laughs his head off about it, thinks its great.

Don’t rush around corners

And

No it doesn’t one shot over shield

The only time i ever get charged kills is when I get taken to one shot, and run around a corner and wait for BKs to chase because they are unaware of how to play halo. If you corner chase people, you deserve to die.

^This exactly.

I can see how people who don’t use it can claim that it is overpowered, but what I don’t think they realize is the percentage that the overcharge doesn’t grant the insta-kill. I honestly suggest using it for a few matches just to see how difficult the overcharge is to use sometimes.
Even if you decide to not try it out, if a guy runs around a corner with low shields and you suspect he has the boltshot, wait a second before you follow him, because the overcharge fires after 2 or 3 seconds whether he lets go of the trigger or not.

The Boltshot is one of those weird Halo weapons I’ll never truly understand.
