Boltshot is a balancer?

A lot of people are complaining about the Boltshot being overpowered and needing to be balanced but, as I’ve been playing the game, I am starting to think the Boltshot was created to compensate for the stronger automatic weapons.

Most of the time when someone is using the AR (assuming they are skilled), are going to attack in the AR’s effective range, and if you are using a precision rifle other than the DMR (which is why I think the DMR is going to be adjusted), you are going to die.

To account for this, the Boltshot was created so players that liked to use the precision rifles could use them without be constantly overwhelmed by automatic rifles. That’s why its secondary fire has one-shot kill potential and good range because there is no other weapon you would have the time to switch to in effort to save yourself (unless you have a power weapon or you were using the DMR).

To keep the Boltshot from being overpowered, 343 gave it a charging and cool down period, a loud charging sound, and less spread (requiring you to be more accurate with the weapon than with a shotgun). I think the Boltshot is fine the way it is and because of the cool down period, the Hardlight Shield is a very effective counter.

The Boltshot is ridiculous and OP. A starting weapon should not be able to take out a pick-up power weapon (shotgun, sword, etc.) You don’t need a shotgun to counter ARs and DMRs.

Yeah, I have to agree. I get a lot of kills with it 'cause I’m good with shotguns, but the thing is just mad OP.

IT IS NOT “JUST” A SHOTGUN, either. It’s also a shield -Yoink!- and headshot weapon. Though it’s half as weak as the pistol, I burst at mid range to destroy shields and use the remaining 5 shots to headshot my opponent… effectively killing them from even farther away AND increasing the unpredictability.

This gun is MOAR than OP, it’s Yoink! ordnance! Take it out!

There’s no argument that can be posted that will make me believe the boltshot isn’t yoink. I don’t think it’s OP, I just think it shouldn’t be a starting secondary. No one should start with a one shot weapon except for GB and Snipers.

When a SECONDARY weapon, which you can get at spawn, has a bigger 1-shot killing range than an ordinance weapon, which you can only get after getting X amount of points or by Infinity Ordinance, something is very wrong.

Automatics are SUPPOSED to be good at close range. Using a DMR at close range against one should result in death if it can’t get the AR to miss long enough for it to run out of ammo, or for the DMR to make the headshot.

The DMR is a long range weapon. Players using it need to pay attention to their radar to maintain distance from other targets to avoid getting killed by the DMR’s fixed rate of fire compared to the AR’s high close-ranged rate of fire. The Boltshot shouldn’t be the answer to that.

The weapon is OP with its charged killing range, and its quick charge up time. It needs a nerf or become a ordinance weapon. It’s not a balancer. It’s just flat-out unbalanced in the current sandbox.

Not sure if serious…

It needs to be nerfed, there are loads of noobs using it on the Forge playlist on Slayer.

Reminds me of the shotgun noobs on COD.

The words “Boltshot” and “balancer” should not be used in the same sentence unless it has “is not.”

I’m on the same page as Saint on this one. I am fine with the weapon being in the game, but it most certainly should not be a loadout weapon. Just make it an ordinance drop. The loud sound it makes when it’s charging doesn’t even matter considering it takes was seems like 1.5 seconds to charge, and if you can hear it charging you’re already in range for it to kill you. It’s really just a short range Railgun that you can spawn with.

Actually he his, it probably WAS meant for balancing, but like all of 343’s other decisions it was a really bad one. It ended up being abused due to it’s insta-kill feature. If it wasn’t abused it wouldn’t be a problem… but we also wouldn’t be here discussing it.

So yeah, it was a balancer that became pocket ordnance. Hahaha what a failure. Not that I blame 343, everyone makes mistakes. They just made a lot.

Pocket ordnance… hehe, it needs a troll-face skin.
