Does anyone else ever use certain weapons such as boltshot with warning or as last resort?
Sometimes I fire my boltshot to warn incoming enemies. I use it more when I have no shields or lows as a last resort or when I need to reload my lightrifle.

LOL I never use it no matter what! Its a shotgun in your pocket which should never be a loadout weapon. xD
Maybe if 343 removed the boltshot from the loadout selection it would be fine but now it is ridiculous.
I try to use it in a more aggressive role than just corner camping.
I use it due to it being forerunner mainly. I’m a forerunner guy.
I don’t like being a [INSERT WORD HERE] so I try not to abuse it. It could use longer charge up time and louder as well.
Not really a fan of the little pocket shotty.
No. I will do everything humanely and sometimes inhumanely possible to get a kill, and I feel no remorse for doing it.
2,450 kills with my beloved Boltshot. <3
Whenever I kill people with the Boltshot, I almost always apologize after the match. If they’re an avid Boltshot user, though, I feel obligated to kill them with it and then multilateral they’re corpse. I also don’t use the IC, and don’t combo power weapons with Camo/Hatepack.
That’s the extent of my etiquette, really.
Ever since they nerfed the range I get many, many more kills using it as a single shot pistol. I hardly ever overcharge anymore, but will if I see some chucklehead walking right into it…
I like the notion of using it as a warning, especially if say my shields are down. I will try that when next it lands in my loadouts.
As to etiquette, your comment reminds me of some behavior in 18th and early 19th century warfare (e.g. armies of Britain, France, et al) whereby officers were often of noble birth and considered “hands off” in most combat scenarios. I believe it was an unspoken rule of war back then (you would allow them to surrender their arms if they managed to stay alive long enough to be captured). I can’t find any historical record of this, but I’m fairly certain it was a “thing”. There’s nothing about it in the Geneva Convention that I’m aware of, so either it is outdated or I’m totally mistaken.
Use of BS on single shot, with dexterity and lots of strafing. Gonna try this next week
Single shot+teammates/grenades = Boltshot wins
If the guys right there, I will one shot him, most of the time though I try to go to single shot kills.
I often use it to defend objectives and what not or if players move upclose to me.
I use the Boltshot as a power weapon with a few imaginative adjustments to be fair. During Forerunner Slayer, I pretended that the Boltsholt have ten bolts, a charge shot would use all of the remaining bolts to take down no more than the Spartan IV’s armor energy shield, and each charge shot would need to reload another full clip to this pistol.
The Boltshot takes 11 bolts to the head to get a kill; a Boltshot charging a shot with ten bolts should take down the enemy’s shield completely. My aversion about the Boltshot in the loadouts wished that the Boltshot wasn’t a back pocket blunderbuss in H4.
I dont really see it that often in BTIS but in Dominion with LockDown mainly on Exile OMG nothing but Boltshots!!
aarrggghhh
There’s no such thing as etiquette if you’re playing to win.

So why do so many people complain bout “boltshots, dmr’s, AC, JetPacks, camping etc”
Are the people who complain not playing to win?
Camping is a valid strategy. Using the boltshot burst is a valid strategy. Just because you don’t like it, is no reason not to use it.
If you’re aware that players do this, you should be using a counter strategy.
People have no reason to complain. If you’re complaining, it’s because you don’t know how to beat it.

Maybe they die to much ?
I don’t use the Boltshot. I don’t believe in Power Weapons you can spawn with… and besides, I can’t get the timing right on it. =P
But yeah, I believe in precision weapons, so I’ll usually go for those weapons unless I get my hands on a Power Weapon. I seldom use the secondaries or autos.

Let’s bring up a few points regarding the BS, shall we? Assuming you don’t pick up ammo for it, there’s a maximum of what, four kills you can get with the Burst Fire? Secondly, if you can’t effectively combat it, there’s something wrong with your strategy, a well placed sticky grenade, or some thruster pack evasion is more than enough to make them waste their shot and become almost entirely helpless. It’s only lethal at an extremely close range, so try backing up and tossing grenades, or just move in, then back up quickly when they’re nearly charged. I’m very rarely killed multiple times by a player with the boltshot, simply because I’m cautious.
And finally, I’d like to point out that there’s a reason the boltshot was introduced, how many times have you managed to kill a sword player or anyone else with a close range weapon for that matter? The whole purpose of the weapon is to be a reliable sidearm, which it is.
9out of 10. Time I die from it the killcam doesn’t even show me and the boltshot hits the wall yet I die!!! It’s garbage
