Would it be all possible to remove the Boltshot as a Loadout Weapon because what little fun Halo 4 actually is, it’s almost ruined but this ***ing gun
I agree and disagre… it can be removed and I have no problem with it, but I don’t really have a problem with running into it often. It’s the players that use the Boltshot exclusively that I have a problem with because they are actually good at it.
But I like the gun becuase it counters crap like the sword and shotties in the game… so it’s a catch 22 in my opinion.
unless 343 uses some space magic to make another forerunner pistol then no sorry but blame the dude who designed that gun i got used to it see a dude with it back up it has really shot range
Short range HA it almost seems like it has a longer range than the shotgun.
We don’t need another forerunner pistol to take its place just remove it as a loudout weapon and have it appear in ordinance and random weapon drops it couldn’t be easier
Also it’s not easy to back up if yor going for CQC kill with shotgun or Sword by the time you realize that they have a boltshot it’s too late, or if the boltshot user is camping behind a corner

I get your point, but it’s still a secondary loadout weapon that is arguable more dangerous than any primary weapon and some power weapons given the right circumstances. That just does not seem balanced to me. ((((Shrugs))))

It doesn’t have to be rare, as long as you can’t spawn with it, it’s okay
On map pick up and ordinance drop. It really is a power weapon like a shotty or Scatter shot.
I think it’s okay to spawn with it, we need a pistol from the Prometheans, it just needs to be nerfed a little on the range/damage…

I’m not saying it should be removed altogether, it’s to OP to spawn with that’s all. the problem about nerfing it is that I don’t think there is a good balance for it to be a spawn weapon even if it’s nerfed it will either be not enough or to much, it’s better to leave it as it is and simply remove it from the loudouts.
I’m also kind of with you when it comes to the DMR, they should have kept the Needler Rifle to balance it out
I don’t get why some people think it’s balanced.
It is clearly overpowered as a spawn weapon. The fact that it’s the most common choice says that on it’s own.

But why can’t be fixed? I mean, make range closer and reticle smaller, so that to kill you must be very close and precise (so it happens more rarely) and if you really hate it, make it that uses all magazine for the charge, so that you can use it only 4 times in total (if you use it without full mag the charge is weaker and doesn’t kill at all)
The fact is that I never saw many camping with it, sometime happened to see someone using it but only becouse of empty megazine in the primary ._. I find the plasma pistol much more common XP

I just said that it doesn’t have good balance, either it’s not nerfed enough which means it’s still OP or it’s nerfed to much making it mostly useless (except for those player who have no life they would still be able to use it effectively)
If we take a look at Armor Lock in Reach, even after the TU nerf it was only slightly less annoying. Player who could use AL was still able to cheat death.
True there aren’t many that to camp with it so in that area it’s only a minor annoyance, it is the fact that it easily beats Shotgun and Sword that is the main issue, as a friend of mine often say “You can spawn with a ***ing shotgun” and that is just wrong
They could make it slower so that if attacks while someone uses shotgun/sword they would lose anyway (they would win only if they prepared before, making it need as time as the Spartan laser for example)

I must say that would be an almost good solution that I didn’t think of, but I still think that it would be to close to the boarder of useless to be honest.
It would make the weapon worthless for those players who almost doesn’t play Halo exclusively

Even if you remove the BS, you’re going to have the PP next on the chopping block so that both are pickups and only the Magnum is the sidearm, IF you don’t disallow Firepower as well.
The BS may be the best sidearm, but it isn’t the best weapon for everything and is purely situational for anything but a lucky kill. It’s an H2 Magnum+Mauler via the mechanics of a PP secondary, it’s not an all-range hand-cannon. -
As a playlist that allows PP’s and BS’s as personal ordinances or Infinity drops, yes that could work for those that want them.
There is nothing wrong with creating and allowing non-personal loadout playlists, but removing 1 to 2 options globaly simply because they’re the highest tiered of their “class” for all, that’s another story and a no-no.
There’s a difference between CE’s M6, H2’s button combo’d BR and H3’s initial map releases for its BR compared to what H4 offered, heck for what Reach offered from the get-go.
H4’s personal loadout function, that the BR and DMR are unlockable so early and that there are different maps and gamemodes to use said personal loadouts, is about allowing you to customise to the situations. If the DMR and BS are the best weapons to use at the moment, rather than wait for 343i or someone else to make a gametype that has everyone spawn with the same but best weapons, the loadouts allow you to spawn with the best weapons and go from there…
But are the best weapons always the best for the gametype and/or map? Of course not, hence up to 5 personal slots at the moment.
… So yes, you can have the BS as a non-loadout option but even at its current power, it’s not necessary.
I only use the BS as a weapon for my CTF/Oddball loadout as its brilliant in tight situations, apart from that i dont really use it, i dont think its that OP, just renember to check your corners :), a quick grenade will soon sort those bolt shot campers out.
Just strip its range!! I wouldn’t mind it but sometimes I see the guy and he’s beyond even effective shotgun range and I get gunned down! High risk reward. If he misses or mistimes I should be able to double punch his -Yoink-, or sticky and jump away, or punch headshot whatever!!

the ting is that carefully checking each corner before go around them is counter productive and you can’t trow a grenade around each corner you don’t have enough nades for that
@thy ReaperMC yes the Boltshot is as situational weapon although getting kill with it has nothing to do with luck. I don’t know why you call getting a kill with it lucky, it has the properties of a shotgun luck has nothing to do with it, the main problem with the Boltshot is: YOU CAN SPAWN WITH A ***ING SHOTGUN.
When it comes to the Plasma Pistol it has its use for other things than cheap kills while it can be used in such manner the plasma pistol is still balanced enough to be a spawn weapon the Boltshot isn’t.
A CQC spawn weapon that is more powerful than a actually CQC power weapon (Hammer, Sword, Shotgun and Scattershot) is wrong, it makes using the CQC power weapon pointless as you can just spawn with the best CQC weapon
