That thing is BS…see what I did there?
No? But seriously, everyone is using it or a magnum (usually Bolt Shot) and it dominates every CQB encounter. I’ve used it and I’ve gotten Overkill medals.
NOT FAIR.
My thoughts:
A) Decrease range
If a starting weapon is pretty much a Shotgun or Scattershot, you know something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.
B) Allow interrupts
Being able to interrupt the charge-up sequence by shooting could reduce the frustrations of CQB. Maybe decrease the charge time for balance at that point.
C) Increase ammo consumption
Although it doesn’t sound right to make a gun behave differently in MP and SP, having the Bolt Shot expend an entire magazine for a charge would add much more balance: the weapon runs dry without the ammo mod in three charges and missing a charged shot means consequences.
id say just increase the busrt zone. its much more accurate than the scattershot. im not really affected much by it but i can see where your opinion comes from. I say only increase burst zone because the magun is brutal fast too, and the plasma pistol we all know.
Post the contents of this thread in the Matchmaking forums, they have one asking for people’s opinion on this matter.
The majority of the people who complain about it either can’t use it properly, or don’t know how to counter it.
A. Are you nuts? I think it’d better to make an overcharge more obvious (more glow around the user)
B. Maybe. Also, it’d be kinda interesting to have a powered up standard shot in campaign
C. Then it’d be really easy to do the reload glitch
I think the Bolt Shot is fine the way it is. I use it’s overcharge strictly on Watchers and it’s standard shots on Crawlers.
any wep that you spawn with should not be able 2 one shot some one no matter how close or how long you charge it

This. And that goes for any weapon that people complain about in this game. The weapons have been proven to be balanced, and the Boltshot is no exception. The timing you need to use its secondary firing mode is exceptional, and even if you do time it right, the damage it deals is inconsistent, so the chances of a one-hit-kill are, while usually pretty decent, are anything but 100%. It’s also got a huge clip, and is very precise, but very nearly impossible to use over mid/long distances, seeing as how it’s damage output for single shots is practically nothing. It’s a close-up & personal gun.
