A few minutes ago i found this video of a trashed weapon called the burst pistol
The burst pistol is thought to precede the bolt shot. seeming to fire a burst instead of a shotgun blast.
I was wondering, would the community have prefered the burst pistol over the bolt shot? Or vis versa?
What, no Pocket-Shotgun?

We have no idea how much damage it does.
For all we know it could be BETTER than the Boltshot (a 3 shot kill that fires 3 shots rapidly with no charge up time).
Burst pistol definitely. I think what 343i did with Forerunner weaponry was cool, but it was essentially Forerunner versions of things we already had. I would have liked to see more original ideas, like this burst pistol.
The Burst Pistol looks to fire plasma not hardlight. based on that I would be more inclined to think its an evolution to the Plasma Pistol.
On your question, I’d rather have the Bolt Shot. The Bolt Shot has a unique function, the sidearm of CQC. a burst pistol would only function as a variant of the magnum really, puill the trigger a bunch and aim for the kill. sidearms in Halo have unique niches to fill, Magnum has high RoF and a zoom for mid range firing, PP to charge and strip shields, Bolt Shot to kill/weaken foes in CQC.
I just dont think the burst pistol would fit into that thought process. However make the burst pistol with an option to charge it like the PP and replace the PP…that would intresting.

One of my primary hopes for Halo 5 is that they redo the Promethean weapons (other than the Incineration Cannon, that was creative). There are so many things they could have done.
I was just thinking yesterday they should have made the Boltshot some burst fire pistol or something instead of a shotgun.
Just looks like an early design of the boltshot.
Why not make it both? I’m sure people would love it and wouldn’t be mad at all about giving the Boltshot a buff since it needs it so much! (Totally sarcastic if you couldn’t tell.)
I would much rather see a Burst Pistol than the Boltshot! A pocket Shotty isn’t a very good idea.
