This thread is addressing the Bolt shot pistol in Halo 4. I think that the gun is a bit much for a secondary starting gun…essentially used as a shotgun and pretty powerful…was wondering what others think and if a fix is needed and what fix would be appropriate or best suited for this gun.
They should of thought twice about the Boltshot. I agree its completely overpowered to be starting with and if you havnt played infinity slayer in a while, then the Boltshot is all your killed by now. Like Mitt Romney they dont think so theres probably nothing they are gonna do about it.

I personally love the weapon. I think it requires skill to use and to avoid in a game. It may be a little OP for a secondary weapon, but that’s fine with me. Many people complain that it is so unfair and that they always are killed by that weapon, but my response is that you are not obligated to run head first into your enemy in the first place. Keep your distance, the DMR will help with that.
Overall, I do not use the Boltshot, but I think it is fine where it is at.
I tolerate it. I don’t think that it is nearly as OP as people claim, but running into someone who’s spamming camo/boltshot can get irritating.

Now this I agree with. I think it depends on the game type you are playing as well as the map you are on.
Could definitely use a nerf…
No starting weapon should ever be a one shot kill. Ever.
It needs a nerf either in range or damage or both. In addition to fixing the glitch.
As it is now it is the go to choice for CQC. Despite the effectiveness of the auto primaries, the boltshot is still superior and more consistent and powerful than the CQ POWER WEAPONS.
It boggles my mind people don’t see issues with it.
The Boltshot is very strong, and can be frustrating. However, it’s not hard to play around it. If an opponent is abusing the Boltshot, you can take simple steps to avoid being killed by it.
The DMR is a much bigger issue. It’s not as “overpowered” as the Boltshot, but its strength and versatility in every situation, clearly outclassing other precision weapons and locking down maps, affects almost every situation. Personally I feel the DMR is having a greater negative impact on the game than the Boltshot.
I love how people have always complained about the noob combo, but they love the boltshot and say it’s balanced. At least with the noob combo, you had to switch weapons and shoot again. This is just crap.

This I agree with, the DMR is a problem that needs to be handled, the Boltshot can wait a little bit if it really needs to be nerfed.
Could use a nerf. If not, it doesn’t need to be a secondary weapon. Getting killed by it made me rage, but now if i see a team is using it I just use it too and out smart them. It’s not too hard.
It just slows down gameplay.
The ones using the BS camp corners, moving half as much as they would otherwise.
The ones not using the BS have to play passively, moving half as much as they would otherwise.
I don’t see a problem with either the Boltshot or the DMR. If everyone has access to it, then its equally powerful. Invis snipes are just as bad as invis Boltshots, and if you know what you’re looking for, you can spot an invis player without much of an issue.
I think people need to stop trying to CQC everything in sight and maybe they’d die less to an easily avoidable weapon. I love the Boltshot because people can’t help themselves and continually rush when it’s not the best idea (the top of lifts for example, I can’t count the number of idiots I’ve killed on Adrift there).
The boltshot is a good secondary weapon, but the shotgun function needs to be nerfed a little. The range of it is almost as far as the unsc shotgun, which shouldn’t be the case. I think the shotgun function should only be a one shot kill only at extreme-close range. Just my opinion
I don’t mind it but I suppose I’m more sided with disliking it, It could use a little nerf but if it doesn’t get one I’m perfectly fine with that, at least you have to aim with it unlike the incineration cannon.
Seriously hate it.
I feel cheap using it (haven’t unlocked it but had to use it a few times when I ran out of ammo)
And really, 4 players on slayer with boltshot camping inside the small “sniper” building on complex is nigh impossible to beat. The room is too big for grenades to be effective and so small that the boltshot can OHK from any location in there, making it impossible to weed them out.
I get one-shot by the bolt shot farther than i would get one-shot by a SHOTGUN…now thats a problem. The way the DMR out-powers the BR should be fixed. now.
I don’t like it, especially for a starting weapon. I never know when I can rush an enemy in CQC and when I can’t because he has a Boltshot.
