Body types change way too little

How can I view this?

I believe it’s a private thing that only gets pushed to support teams and the devs

I do wish there was more of a feedback thing available where people could upvote and downvote feature ideas and whatnot.

To me it seems they took the simplest route to inclusion, by way of keeping things androgynous. Not only does this make it easier on the design team, it also helps them avoid having to tackle ā€œinclusionā€ in a grander fashion. I’m hoping they rectify this as a QOL change, but I don’t see it being a big priority of theirs.

Yeah it definitely does feel like an attempt at inclusion but the designs lean more on the side of masculine than straight down the middle so it does bother me at times since it’s important to me

That’s not really accurate. In terms of uniform Mjolnir sets, of course the design is same, but the sizing was unique to the Spartan because they were not all the same physical size. I can think of at least two examples (Cole Protocol and the first of the Kilo trilogy) that describe their female Spartans as being entirely feminine in their figure, extremely built, but feminine.

Having the body type and inner suit offer a clear male/female selection tracks fine with the series lore. Something like ā€œ-Yoink!- armorā€ on the other hand certainly wouldn’t.

I think its important to a fair amount of people. Wind the clock back over a decade and thats exactly why we got female Spartan models in the first place. The issue in the modern discussion is that its no longer simply ā€œone or the otherā€ anymore, and that a high visibility game stands to lose just as much by getting inclusion ā€œwrongā€ as they do with not addressing it at all.

As long as there are no changes to hit boxes or overall profile I say go nuts with it, but that puts a lot more on the design team to accommodate. Not only that but from a PR standpoint having the full menu of inclusive choices could easily lead to targeted harassment of those who select certain choices (as it did to those who selected female Spartans for years), and on the modern stage people with the megaphone have developed a habit of going after the designer instead of the ones doing the harassing.

While unfortunately undercooked, I think their current approach will stick around because its entirely neutral and therefore ā€œsafeā€.

I forgot about that.

Besides the point though, I have no problem with male and female Spartans looking different. What I don’t particularly care for is that they seemingly highlight the female Spartan’s behind on purpose. There’s no need to sexualize the gameplay.

That’s a hard one given that wider hips are going to noticeably move when compared to narrower ones. That said, some previous games did go a little heavy on the ā€œwiggleā€. I only just now notice my previous post got edited, but I was referring to armor of the chesticle variety, so I do agree with you that overt sexualization is not needed in Halo.

I really just look for the armour to actually fit the body types to be honest
It might look good enough like that
What i mean is that on body type 1, the armour for the torso noticeably has a gap between it and the characters waist and it looks super strange
If the torso was smaller or something or more narrow it might give more of a visual indication of the body type selection and fix that issue at the same time

This feels weird to quote a previous post, but whatever.

Anyway, yes I remember that the sizing is slightly different with each Spartan, but Halo 4 and 5 went overboard with it. You have a slim set of armor for a male Spartan, and you switch to female and it makes them so small. Spartans are not that small, even female Spartans.

As I’ve heard from other people, ā€œSpartans are not skinny teensā€.

Had some good conversation on this topic in another thread though it seems it was closed and unlisted now. Probably for the best. At least there’s still this place available
