@Globex_Silenced First off, I will say that the internet has always had a plethora of ‘rude’ people; as ‘King Solomon’ once said: “There is nothing new under the sun.” Dissent isn’t necessarily a bad thing when it can be articulated in a concise and constructive way. What I feel you’re taking umbrage with, is the manner in which people convey their thoughts, or what humanity has become ‘as a whole’ in the year 2022 (a marked increase in petulance).
People by and large have shorter attention spans than in years past due to the prevalence of social media and easy access to relaying their thoughts ‘24/7’ which has led to an increase in narcissism. Anonymity can also lead to a rapid deterioration in ‘discussion quality’, as people tend to derail threads more often or troll incessantly when their real identities are hidden (a lack of personal accountability).
There is far more awkwardness and less social etiquette among the general population overall; quite a few people lack the ability to argue their points without resorting to belittling, condescending, or demeaning attitudes (or they wrongly feel it gives weight to their opinions, when in actuality it doesn’t).
So you’ve got an amalgamation of social issues that both predate this forum and perpetuate this phenomenon via external forces. The ‘Ouroboros’ isn’t going to stop eating its own tail anytime soon.
