Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could have a boat in Halo 4? It would be extremely fun in Big Team. It could be like a warthog. 1 Driver, 1 Passenger and a turret in the back.
And I know it would be a long shot, but what if we could have submarines. (Not for matchmaking, just for messing around in custom games)
I believe Bungie tried and it never really materialized. It would be interesting to see even if just in Campaign. I do hope we get some new vehicles to add to the standard vehicles such as the Warthog we have now.

Oh yeah, I remember hearing something about that. And it would be fun for the Campaign!
Indeed, I think the best idea for a water vehicle would be a hovercraft. Get rid of the tires on the Warthog and replace it with a giant tube. Problem solved!
I don’t know. At the Reach panel at PAX last year, one of the Bungie dudes said that he’s been trying to get a boat in Halo for 10 years. Personally, I would LOVE a boat.
Boats in Halo 4? Yes please. Instead of 343i adding in some AA-type additions to the game that are bound to make people cry and complain with the risk of them not working well (I mean, let’s be honest, what could they add at this point?), I’d rather them concentrate on naval combat since it would be quite a fun addition.
I don’t know how many of you here play/have played Halo Custom Edition, and how many of that population have ever played the map called Island Hop. For those of you who don’t know what Custom Edition is (pretty sure most of you know), look it up.
Anyway, the map was basically two medium sized islands (red and blue team bases) separated by a pretty big expanse of water, which had a huge underwater chasm that could only be crossed by using the underwater bridge. The thing that made this map unique was the fact that the only vehicles were boats. You had the two Warthog boats (the models were modified so they did look like boats), both the regular Warthog and modified Rocket Warthog (the turret was gone, replaced by a passenger seat and the driver shot rockets that come out of the front) and a big troop transport boat.
It just goes the show that boats are possible and could work well in Halo.
Ho! Ho! Walking around in a submarine much like how you do on a Scarab would be awesome and being able to drive even more. Though, I don’t really see how either boats or submarines would fit into Halo’s multiplayer. As long as they act like existing vehicles (aka, staying out of competitive playlists) I’d support the idea if 343 found a non gimmicky way of incorporating them.
I think we need boats.
At the ‘beginning of all video games’ there started a time with boats and a lot of other water things; like submarines, ships; etc. pp.
Then suddenly a period started without boats and ships. I dunno why. Especially in Realtime-Strategy-Games: C&C, Warcraft/Starcraft (all not my favorite games).
Or in FPS or TPS games: they cut swimming and water scenes out.
Hell why have we always to die now, if we fall in the water?
Why are there no boats and ships any more?
… I know… simulating water… yeyeye… excuse!
I think programmers became to scary today, to create boat or/and water levels now!
Get your balls back men; and give us water and boat combats!
We have Space Combat, Melee, a lot of cool FPS weapons, fat and small vehicles; including air, cars with epic driving physics (may be not epic… but at least cool)… Vehciles with passengers, grenades, fat enemys like scarabs that are roaming around… and now you think, you can’t handle a simple battle on some sea?! OMG?!
This is your chance to prove yourself: 343i XD!
No Excuses! No Tergiversations! The time is ripe to step on the water again!
I would love this in campaign. MC chillin on his boat, maybe doing some fishing. You catch a 80 lbs cat fish, oh what’s that “bloop” you get an achievement. MC on a boat, catching fish and getting achievements. A great scene indeed.
