I just believe that you should not be able to melee a tank to death…lorewise and balancewise.
Just keep the grenade plant in and take the beat down out. Lorewise
What would happen if elites simply smashed all of UNSC tanks in the war??
Spartan and elite power is not enough to smash a freaking hull. Balancewise
-Sprint is universal now.
-On top of that you still have abilities which could aid you like jetpack.
-plasma pistol default spawn
-plasma grenade default spawn
-higher passive movement speed
It really doesn’t feel like a tank when you can smash it.
Has to Be menacing , go get a big weapon to down it.
Stick it , or board and stick it with style.
Meleeing it is dumb
At the least revert the smashing speed back to halo 2. Where it looked more “halo-realistic” and wasn’t as fast as halo 3 and onwards
I think it’s pretty fair considering the Scorpion is pretty powerful as it is because…well, it’s a tank. The melee is fine, and it gives a chance for the driver of the tank to get them off, instead of a single grenade shoved in and you’re doomed. Not to mention melee is another way of hijacking a tank. It’s already ready balanced and fine.
It isn’t a big problem.
People who are good with vehicles will continue to dominate with them, heck maybe they’ll actually have a challenge this time around.
Also for the whole “lorewise” thing… spartans are genetically enhanced super soldiers, it isn’t that difficult for them to smash into a vital part of a vehicle, same with Elites, if I recall correctly they’re even stronger than spartans, physically.

I know what a Spartan in Halo is.
And I doubt that they can punch a scorpion tank to death in 2 seconds lorewise.

They can flip warthogs… They also can lift ODST drop pods from mud. Don’t see why they can’t punch a scorpion.

when it comes to games,
Gameplay > Lore
if Halo followed lore, plasma weapons would DOMINATE 900000 times against ANY UNSC weapon

Then you should know that thanks to their augmentations they can lift 3 times their body weight. John weighs 290lb. 290*3=870. John alone, can lift 870 pounds, I think he can easily, just like any spartan punch right through the metal plating on scorpions.
Want to talk lorewise though? Okay, lets have plasma weaponry dominate UNSC weaponry without question. Take down shields with no issue and eat right through armour killing the person in 1 to 2 shots. Heck, plasma can melt things, lets make plasma able to completely melt through tanks, warthogs etc.
Reguardless, lore or not. It’s balanced perfectly.
Even if I was wrong, Gameplay > Lore.
> And I doubt that they can punch a scorpion tank to death in 2 seconds lorewise.
They’re not “punching a tank to death in two seconds”. They’re punching the damn driver to death in two seconds. In actuality the canopy of a tank is considerably less durable than the front side of a tank; it’s not farfetched to consider that a genetically-enhanced powersuit-clad Spartan could easily infiltrate and kill the driver of a vehicle. The same can be said with the back compartment that houses the engine-- do anything malign back there and you’ll surely mess up vital mechanics.
You’d have a point if players were just going around melee’ing the tanks without boarding them and blowing their -Yoink- up, but that’s not the case now is it?
OT: As for your suggestion in the OP, no. A tank user can easily kill a boarder by shooting at a nearby building. Let’s not mention that when using a tank you should stay with teammates to make sure you’re not boarded or picking them off when boarded-- if a tank wants to run renegade and get boarded by a team of opponents who melee their crap to death, then tough -Yoink-.
You know, they could just revert it back to how it was in Halo 2.
Seemed perfect to me, though of course you’d have to not allow the driver to just simply escape from hijacks like back then either.
Either way, meleeing the driver for a kill was slower/weaker and punching the tank didn’t directly damage it either, just blew the canopy/engine guard off so that you could chuck a grenade inside if you wanted the vehicle completely gone instead of taking it for yourself.
I just hope that meleeing the tank doesn’t cause it to die 80% of the time like it did in reach. The melee was basically a slower grenade kill with a chance of failure. Not like halo 2 where most of the time meleeing would give you the opponent moderately damaged tank for use.

Actually the 3x body weight thing in the fall of reach is now more because mendez said that the augmentations will improve over time. Now that doesn’t mean he will have infinite strength if he lives long enough but its safe to say that he is a lot stronger now than he was when he was 14. I mean Cal-141 stopped a brutes gravity hammer strike with one hand so its pretty safe to say that he is a lot stronger now then he was then.

I get what you’re saying.
Also, why on earth would you ever jump on any vehicle of any kind and just start whacking it until it explodes? For heaven’s sake, you’re still ON the vehicle when it blows…
