So someone made a poll post the other day about adding additional DLC to Halo 5’s campaign… either to make up for its perceived shortcomings, or else to add to a story you already thoroughly enjoyed (I’m closer to the latter group on that one). And I had a crazy, and I think brilliant at the same time, idea…
What if 343 made DLC for Halo 5, maybe even just three very well designed, thought-out levels… that acted as a prequel to Halo 5?
Think about that for a minute. What are arguably the two BIGGEST complaints people had with Halo 5’s campaign? All together now…
1. NO INTRODUCTION TO BLUE TEAM WHATSOEVER?!!
2. ONLY THREE BLEEPING MISSIONS WHERE I CAN PLAY WITH THE GREATEST TEAM IN THE HALO LORE?!!
So this campaign DLC could be created to rectify both of those problems. You could do some of the “this many missions” that Fred mentioned in the opening Blue Team cinematic, which would be cool, but do you know what would be amazing? Bring us back to Reach. Introduce us to Blue Team as they were originally formed and / or abducted as children, then give us three campaign missions or whatever to play as them trying to defend that planet before ultimately being split up in the events at the end of The Fall of Reach. Linda being mortally wounded, Fred and Kelly absent, Chief en route to the Halo ring following Noble Six’s sacrifice. Maybe you even have a throwback to one of the most popular games in the series to date (Reach) where Blue Team comes into contact with Noble team on a mission or something. How amazing would that DLC be?!!
You could end it with a cinematic fast-forwarding the events of the next four mainline Halo games, showing what became of Blue Team during those events and how they ultimately were reunited prior to Halo 5. So, to recap…
Solves the lack of Blue Team missions? Check. - Gives us some sweet campaign DLC content? Check. - Gives us a proper introduction to Blue Team, and where they all come from? Check.Anyway, this idea got me pretty excited, and I’d love to hear what others think about it… maybe with enough community support, 343 would listen to this post or similar ones and make it happen!
Now that we have Marine Replicants in Warzone as human enemies, maybe we could finally fight Insurrectionists as Blue Team. Recreate missions where they stormed Insurrectionists bases. Or even recreate the Biko assembly raid as the Chief fights alongside Elites, trying to root out friend from foe…
I personally would like DLC that bridges Halo 4 with Halo 5; The missions and narrative could focus on the Master Chief and the way he deals with the loss of Cortana, and how he interacts with Blue Team after they are reunited. One can dream…
Except Halo has never had story DLC and it probably isn’t going to break that streak. I do want more Blue Team, but I don’t think that 343i is going to make a DLC to improve their awful Campaign.

Halo CE didn’t have online multiplayer… What if they decided to never change that in Halo 2? Seriously, why not?
The way I see it, Halo is a 3 year release game, so during the 2 years in between they should have some awesome campaign DLC to hold us over a little longer. I am primarily a campaign lover when it comes to Halo, it’s what got me hooked. So I am all for more campaign.

Well, Halo 2 wasn’t a DLC to Halo: Combat Evolved. Also, Microsoft would have never let Halo 2 release without online multiplayer, as it was the game that would showcase Xbox Live. It was a tech demo, with a good story and good multiplayer, plain and simple.
Honestly I’m kind of confused as to what you are asking.

Halo never had any story DLC, but that’s not a good reason to stop it from happening now.
