Yeah I know. Still doesn’t make any sense though.
Hate to break your heart kid, but a LORE accurate game would not be fun. The gun play would be boring AF. Choices like Recoil are made to make the game a fun experience for players, and to add balance to guns in a way that don’t take away from their damage output. Bloom is just dumb.
You can limit hitscan weapon ranges with static spread too. So instead of bloom where the spread pattern changes with each shot, you’d have spread that doesn’t increase/decrease no matter how fast you fire your weapon, but will cause you to miss at distances beyond the weapon’s intended range.
Granted this is still an RNG mechanic, but with bloom removed the only remaining variable is how close you position yourself to a target to guarantee all shots land, which is a far better solution than bloom.
Or better yet, ditch RNG altogether and just use slower projectiles that require shot leading at range.
