bloom should be removed from sniper

I think we should take this off. There is bloom when hip-firing the sniper rifle. It’s a precision weapon, meant to be able to make crazy shots with, so I say let people make crazy hip fire shots, if they are accurate enough to do it, with no bloom.

Edit: Another point I’d like to add here is that if you miss the first shot hip firing, but you “hit” the second, you could still miss the shot with bloom. However, the point of the sniper rifle is to be accurate, and if you are on the second shot, why should you miss just because it was taken quickly after the first? If anything, that’s even more impressive because it’s a quick correction from a mistake, and you’re hip firing a sniper rifle, just to put that into perspective

An issue that has been addressed:
It is not proven that the sniper only has bloom on the 4th shot. Reticle spread indicates there is bloom immediately after the first. The video that people seem to be citing as showing this is Aozolai’s, and in that video, he himself states that he would like to see bloom removed from the sniper. He says at 2:46 “all it does is add randomness, and to hip firing a sniper rifle, which is already difficult as Hell.” Also, what makes it appear there is no bloom is that there is no extra bullet hole with the 2nd and 3rd shots. This doesn’t necessarily prove there is only bloom on the 4th shot, it could just be too close of a spread to cause another bullet hole, but even if it were, this would still be an unfair mechanic that has no place in the sandbox. No matter what shot it is, if you are accurate with the sniper rifle, you should get the kill. That video is here: Halo Infinite vs Halo 3 | Sniper Rifle - Aiming & Bullet Magnetism - YouTube

Are you sure it has bloom? I don’t remember that being the case. At the very least I don’t remember it having real bloom. Since reach the sniper has had a reticle that bloomed out when shot. But it would always return to full accuracy before you could even fire the next shot, so bloom didn’t even affect it. It was just a timer really.

It does. I was watching someone test it with hip fire. Here’s a good video showing it Halo Infinite's Sniper Has Bloom - YouTube

It has Bloom but only when not scoped.

See here.

It does, it’s just very insignificant until the 4th shot which will actually most of the time go away from center unlike the first 3 shots which will practically stay in the middle with a slightly offset for 2 and 3 but won’t actually make you miss.

But to answer the main post, I think the sniper is fine but yeah the bloom does feel odd.

This is definitely one of the worst changes 343i has done. I always hipfire with the sniper. To penalize players for doing that in Halo is beyond absurd. As if the announcer calling “no-scopes” wasn’t annoying enough. 343i needs to stop changing things for the sake of change.
On the topic of bloom, why the heck is it back anyway? This was a terrible change in Halo Reach. Fans hated it. And now it’s back? It’s not as significant as it was in Reach, obviously, but adding randomness and chance to winning gunfights is really dumb.
Bloom should not exist for weapons with a headshot multiplier. At all.

Seems weird to me that you could fire a precision weapon at the hip and kill anything without some sort of massive recoil or potential to miss.

Almost as if its designed for use at range down a scope and not barrel deep in your enemies craphole.

The Multiplayer Trailer sniper shot isnt all its good for and getting sick clips isnt the same as being effective (unless of course you’re making that your life mission or something).

Just use it as a sniper, whats the big deal? Who even noscopes that often with the S7? The Skewer, yeah I get the Skewer but not the S7.

That’s just not how Halo’s been and it’s become a staple of Halo gameplay to try to make hipfire shots with the sniper rifle. Bloom, in any amount, makes this harder, so it’s really a matter of preserving Halo’s core identity

Its a 20 year old game. Coming from a og halo plyer. Our excuses can’t be well thats how its always been. Its combat evolved

Honestly it doesn’t even make a difference outside of spamming not scoped shots. Its not that big of a deal for me either way.

I don’t see it as much evolving as devolving. Why does it make the game any more fun? Why are we changing it? Just to change it? This is part of gameplay. It’s part of the game. We can evolve Halo without taking the most fun parts out of it, and better yet, we should keep all the most fun parts in it to show to the next generation

How come?

Dang not bloom on the Sniper Rifle?! What is 343 thinking like sheesh!

Well, what are they thinking? Why have it?

If they can hit those shots, they deserve em. Show me the clips

The only negative I find with the bloom on the Sniper is that you can’t spam sniper shots when panicking. You still will be able to hipfire no scopes fine with the first shot.

But wouldn’t panicked shots be taking place most likely at close range where the bloom would have little to no effect?

You shouldn’t be rewarded for spamming shots when panicking. I’m fine with it staying or going either way. It doesn’t really make a difference to me tbh.

Well there wouldn’t be any reward, because there wouldn’t be any punishment. It only hurts repeated shots at longer ranges, which I think, if they can hit them, they definitely deserve to
