Bloom in my opinion has always been a mistake to have in the game I really wish/hope that 343 just removes it just makes it to be inconsistent and annoying to know that my shots should register but are not. We are talking about these super soldiers that are capable of lifting a warhog or tank with ease can’t keep a steady aim come on especially something as small as a pistol again this is my opinion on the subject. I know there’s a big chunk if not majority that don’t like the bloom i think there should be zero bloom if not barely any i feel the the weapons that have bloom are too high at least that’s how it feels to me.
I get the sentiment but Halo needs Bloom. We hardly have any recoil outside of the commando and no hipfire penalties either.
Without Bloom every gun becomes a perfectly accurate laser and that isn’t fun. The only thing that would change from weapon to weapon would be projectile speed and rate of fire.
So unless you want more recoil on all your guns (and i know they are super soldiers but everyone no matter how strong feels recoil, its impossible not to) then bloom is necessary.
This isn’t CS:GO my dude… maybe it could be a mode though? “Perfect Spartan” game mode for people who want to minmax their keyboard and mouse gameplay?
Then reduce projectile velocity. Have some actual aim skill introduced into the game. Hard-capping skilled players with a random mechanic isn’t helping the game. Recoil shouldn’t even be present on precision guns either because it literally brings the reticle into the head, making precision guns easier to use. 4 shots with the BR are super easy in infinite because it’s a laser and the vertical recoil lines up the shot for you
Or you pick between bloom and no bloom
My suggestion there us to make the recoil random or at least not the exact same every shot. I do think precision weapons are way too easy to use right now (and always have been in Halo). Even super soldiers would feel recoil to some extent especially since they aren’t using tiny calibers. And recoild doesn’t necessarily go straight up either so it doesn’t have to always go to the head.
But outside of that bloom seems like a nice compromise that basically just shortens the effective range of a gun, at least at max fire rate.
Bloom creates a skill gap. Players that don’t pace their shots with the assault rifle will probably get less kills than someone who controls the bloom. Either that or they will lose more gunfights from inaccuracy.
Have you ever played Quake?
Those games are VERY fun, and have a pretty significant skill ceiling.
I think the sentiment behind your thoughts on it are misguided and are tainted/polluted by the mechanics of other contemporary shooters.
Bloom is entirely unnecessary, adding an uncontrolable RNG variable does nothing for the game.
Games like CS:GO don’t have “bloom”,
They have spray patterns, and recoil control.
The most inaccurate shots are the ones you make while moving.
And frankly these are things that Halo honestly doesn’t need either.
Halo it fine with weapons that shoot like beams,
It has weapons that shoot a projectile,
It has grenades that interact with the games in different ways.
It has Killer Death Vehicles
Halo HAS options.
All of Halo has been more about Positioning and Using the Arenas Geography to your advantage.
The weapons themselves are used to support that gameplay.
That’s kinda the point of the SandBoxy Arena Shooters isn’t it?
The Arena itself is a gameplay critical feature,
See most of the games you listed are PC shooters. I know Halo is on PC now but what is popular there doesn’t always translate to console. On there having no aim assist and high speed movement is what makes games like Quake and Doom fun. Aiming onto a fast target is the skill.
I have played CS and outside of Trouble in T Town i don’t understand why that game is popular. I just don’t like any of the mechanics and thats probably because i grew up on console and just have a different game pallet. Most console shooters have some form of bloom, recoil, and penalty to hip fire. While not that is necessary in Halo, i think not having any of it just wouldn’t go over with the console crowd. Older Halo games got away with this by having way larger reticles instead of bloom so I find bloom a great modern way to represent that while allowing for increased accuracy if you slow your shots.
You are arguing about a variable that affects all players: there’s no advantage in “Bloom vs. No Bloom”, just a perceived sense of control.
No one is “playing better” or “playing worse” because of bloom.
If you want to play CS:GO, go play CS:GO. Game modes optimised for mouse and keyboard might be a viable option for Halo Infinite, but the player base isn’t big enough to merit a “hardware specific” mode and could be spun as favouritism.
So actually bloom is in CS:GO. When you’re moving and trying to shoot, the standard spray patterns BLOOM to the size of a barn wall haha.
Serious response though; bloom is in every Halo to my knowledge. It delivers an important part of the skill gap, knowing how to best pace firing, and knowing when you have to go full auto, or spam single fires and pray to beat the enemy damage race.
