Bloom-Donk-A-Donk

I was looking at the video footage of Breakneck. There’s this clip where someone is picking off someone else from all the way across the map with the DMR, and there’s no pause at all. Fewer blooms than a crawlspace garden.

And I’m thinking to myself, “Dude, this is gonna be so ba-donk-a-donk. I’m gonna go all My-Little-Pwny on everyone.”

C’mon, bro. How can you NOT be jazz hands about that?

Man i’m all kinds of jazz hands with that ish. No Bloom slayer is going to play amazing. I almost cannot comprehend what is about to be laid upon us within the Title Update. Melee bleed through is also gonna make the game play so much smoother with beat downs being what they were always supposed to be instead of pausing gameplay with the derp-derp melees. Literally every obstruction with Reach is being altered and changed to make the gameplay flawless.
FFA’s are finally going to make a come back and individual skill and 1v1 DMR battles will actually fair out the right way for once. No random luck factor, just pure aiming and skill.

Yea hopefully… Beta hoppers hopefully will not change that. What if everyone complains about it?

Then no bloom becomes for classic gametypes only.

Something I wouldn’t mind.

No bloom is going to make this game so much better. I do wish we were able to strafe better to balance out the insane bullet magnetism, not many people will be missing shots.

With classic gametypes, strafing becomes way better and sniping and shooting becomes harder.

That’s why I think that no bloom has a big role to play with the current team classic playlists, as well as the Classic Maps.

I be jazz hands, bro.

But seriously, I’m happy! I can’t wait for the TU!

They fixed strafing?!?!

> They fixed strafing?!?!

I hope so.

I’d rather be pew-pew-ed by bullet magnetism than to unload half a clip of rounds into what’s supposed to be someone’s face, only to have that person beat me in a duel I started forty seconds before he started shooting. And you totally know what I mean - I’m not talking about spamming. The chance factor makes my feelings stabby. Getting dunked on when you’re using the DMR like a BAWS is 'nanners.

But bloom isn’t being turned off in the TU. It’s being reduced to 85% bloom. So you’ll still have bloom to deal with.

Im glad bloom is going but honestly to do that they really needed to address strafe acceleration…its horridly sluggish right now and all bumping up movement speed does is make you feel like your spartan is ice skating.

I agree. No bloom will improve this game regardless of strafing mechanics.

We’ll have the gametype for custom games, and I’m sure at least one playlist will have no bloom (most likely MLG).

Yeah, in Team Classic.

Strafing at 120% speed > Strafing at default (turtle) speed.

You’re saying a big truth here.

In Halo CE and 2, there wasn’t any acceleration when you moved making strafing a good tactic to make it harder to kill you.

Sadly in H3 and HR there’s acceleration, making it look like your spartan is ice skating when you add more speed.

That really sucks, and 343i should really remove that to make this game play like CE.

Agreed. This sudden jolt in movement has always been quite annoying for the last 4 years…

It surprises me that so many people have difficulty accepting the phasing out of strafing abilities. That entire “strategy” was a byproduct created entirely on accident, and Bungie took major strides to try and limit its implementation.

The situation reminds me a lot of the diving shotgun problem in the original Gears of War. Epic noticed how people were exploiting their game’s mechanics, corrected the problem by adding momentum disruption in Gears 2 and players subsequently lined up to scold them taking away their “strategy.”

Ironically, much like Reach, Gears 2’s gameplay was better off because of the change, even if it upset some of its players. That’s not to say Reach isn’t without its flaws. There are plenty of gripes to be had with Reach, I assure you. It’s just that strafing (or the lack thereof, really) is not one of them.
