Blood.

While I was slaughtering the Covenant in Halo PC a minute ago, I realised that there is a lot of blood in the game.

Picture. (It’s oddly satisfying to see all that blood and the dead Covenant bodies)

As each game in the series has been released, less and less blood has been included. Halo Reach had virtually none (except for that one level), and the same with Halo 3 and ODST.

I think the addition of blood makes the game look… more gruesome. The battlefield isn’t supposed to look all clean and tidy like in the previous games, it needs to be bloody, damaged, and ugly.

What do you think? Should blood be at Halo CE levels (pic above for reference) or stick to what we saw in Halo 3/Reach?

Thank the pathetic notion that Halo needs realism. That much blood isn’t realistic, thus it was reduced.

I’d say either do something completely different, or stick with a Halo 3 take on things

Isn’t it sad? :frowning:

Yes, it is actually one of my earliest memories of Halo, spattering the covenant blood all over the walls

I like it better with less blood but thats just my opinion on blood.

Those were the times when I would try to paint a hallway with Elite blood until I had a huge bloody area with horrible lag on it. I’d have nothig against being able to do that again.

less blood but i wish if you shot someone in the arm with the shotgun there whole arm would come off when they died because the fact that there body always remains intact is bothersome

Hah! I think everyone tried to make the console lag by doing that!

I’m all for CE’s amount of blood. Well perhaps for multiplayer it could be little less (plausible lagging for that amount of blood in MM etc…). But damn yes for customs & campaign.

I was mainly referring to Campaign anyway.

Probably sacrificed it for performance. I know that going near a lot of Jackal blood in Halo PC is laggy.

If anything, they should restore it and should just include an option to disable it like Halo PC does (Decals).

I don’t see why not the game is rated M for Mature. If they don’t have a lot blood in the game then they need to bring down the rating to T for Teen. Because making the game rated M for violence and language doesn’t seem right in this day and age. Maybe like 8 years ago but now its seems like there’s more to it then just what it says on the back cover. Most likely some mother complain and took it to far like they did with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and MW2 were they had to make some kind of deal or something.

If your going to add a lot of blood, also add gibbing for certain weapons.

The issue is ratings for games are becoming stricter and stricter, and if Halo is trying to appeal to a wider audience, then being and 18 is not the way to go because parents are less likely to purchase it than a 15 or 16.

Sad, isn’t it?

Too much blood gets the game pulled from shelves in other nations like Australia or Germany which have much stricter rules around violence. Halo is a AAA multi-million dollar franchise which could loose a lot of revenue for MS if it gets pulled from shelves.

But i miss the alien gore from Halo CE. I remember hunters would always seem to squirt out the most orange slop.

I felt that Reach had the most blood…

The hardcore halo fans don’t even want realism, It’s Science FICTION for a reason, they make it more real for those casuals who have prestiged 10 times and are bored of COD.

343 is a new developer and this is their first halo game that they have built (Not counting H1 Remake), and they have a chance to make a stand against the 12 year olds whos first game was MW2 (I actually really liked COD4, but all after sucked). Let’s hope they do the right thing.

I thought the amount of blood in Halo 2 was fine. Combat Evolved had a bit much, and every game including and after Halo 3 had little to no blood at all.

The option would be good, yes.

As for laggy-ness on PC… I’ve got everything running on highest settings and I don’t get any lag at all, even when melee-ing bodies for the fun of it.

I’m Australian, and Halo CE was let in without a fuss. If they keep it to Halo CE’s levels, or less, I doubt the classification board would refuse to rate it.
