Has anyone else noticed the lack of blood in Halo 5? It’s really disappointing. Combat Evolved used to have tons of blood. It made killing things a lot more fun.
I don’t recall alot of blood ever in halo, not like sum of the other games out there
343 Industries / Microsoft opted for a T rating rather than an M rating for Halo 5. Hence the lack of blood and swearing. It’s very anti-space marine IMO.
EDIT:
I’m pretty sure they did it to expand the audience, though I’m not sure much of a difference it made.

You don’t recall ever smacking a corpse in Halo CE until the game crashes from all of the blood? Man, you missed out! ;D
And ever since Halo 2, blood has been decreasing more and more. Halo barely deserved the M rating as it is.
Also, there is blood in Halo 5, especially in the Campaign.
Ya if you beat on the corpse, lmao forgot all about that…

That makes sense. The biggest T-rated moment in the campaign is when Buck says “BS.” It’s completely unlike Buck to avoid swearing , at least it was in Halo 3: ODST. The T rating would also explain the lack of on-screen deaths (such as when the Guardians rise) and the re-design of Cortana’s appearance. Man, I hope Halo 6 goes back to the M rating.

Haha I had so much fun beating elite corpses in Combat Evolved until the whole wall was purple

Me too. If there’s anything DOOM has taught me it’s blood makes everything better.
As cool as it would be to get all that blood back, I won’t lose sleep over it. However, if it returns in the same caliber as CE’s, I hope the blood will come in all the different bright colors.

Yeah, there’s blood in the campaign, just no where near as much as there used to be. Like you said, it’s been declining since Halo 2. I’m sure the only reason Halo 4 was rated M was because of Cortana’s increased sexualization and that once scene where the Didact disintegrated the people on Ivanoff station.

I’m playing the campaign right now. There’s no blood.

It really does. That’s why I added the Increased Blood Effect mods in Skyrim and Fallout 4. It just makes the game seem more violent, like my bullets actually mean something.

So this isn’t really a Halo 5 specific problem. It’s just not Halo CE.
The ESRB is just more lax with their M rating nowadays, so there is little to no reason for Halo to be an M rated game.
Outside of the Flood, Halo 3 shouldn’t be an M rated game either.

A bit more blood wouldn’t hurt anything, but its non-presence doesn’t hurt anything either.
I’m apathetic.

Yeah I was about to edit my comment after shooting a few corpses.
EDIT:
I guess removing human blood is the difference between M and T.

That’s true, but Halo 5 is definitely one of the largest steps they’ve made towards censoring the games. At least, it’s the first one that I’ve noticed it. And sure, outside of the Flood, Halo 3 wouldn’t have been M rated, but the flood was a big part of the game. And even Halo 3 had a lot more blood than Halo 5. I dunno, I just miss popping elites and showering the walls with blood. I just miss the M rating. I would have loved a M rated scene in Halo 5 where we actually saw the Guardians kill a crap ton of people. It would have added more emotion to the situation. But, oh well. It’s still Halo.

You’re probably right about the flood. I also think swearing plays a big role in the rating. Halo: Reach didn’t have any flood, but there was lots of swearing within Noble Team (not to mention civilians dying).

DOOM was great and also proof that a game doesn’t need to pander to a teen audience to be successful.
