Why am I getting matched up with people I block? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of blocking them? Especially since they’re muted
Blocking doesn’t affect matching, it just prevents you from communicating with them via Xbox Live.

It was never intended to be a feature to block you from playing certain people.
That actually happened and then all the top Warzone players blocked each other and then promptly complained that they couldn’t find matches. Like many other things, that was abused horribly and thus returned to the intended design feature of blocking communications.

I’m wondering if OP meant on the same team. I’ve found in my experience that blocking only prevents them from really being on the same team as you, although you can still match AGAINST them. Could be wrong, but that’s what I’ve noticed. Anyone I’ve ever blocked I’ve never had on my team again after that point.

Blocking people with the intent of not matching them defeats playing online. Multiple people would take advantage and block people who are better skilled, and then never lose a game once they block everyone.

It may sound dumb but it actually happens. It’s one of the reasons why the Warzone Warlords playlist had such trouble early on. It’s a reality of gaming that people abuse features beyond their intended purposes.
