The Halo Community has been blinded by hype for quite sometime now. I cant say I blame you guys, its been 6 years and throughout most of it 343i has been silent.
343i, Content creators, and Xbox are all hyping up this game. But red flags have been all over the place and so many people have ignored or dismissed them.
343i was selling this game as a soft core reboot, a return to form. Bonnie Ross said tht no Halo game would launch in the future without Split-screen. These are two lies that blinded so many people. 343i has experimented too much with the Halo Formula and in some cases abandoned it for CoD centered ideas. There hasn’t been a return to form in over a decade 07 to be precise.
But guys now that you see the truth go back to the Tech Preview reveal and rewatch it. That video is mainly a meeting talking about how to sell the game, sure we see a little customization here and Pre-recorded gameplay. Not Live gameplay. I dev straight up says “with 4 months till launch, we wont be able to fix everything. But we will make a list and work post launch.”
No Playable elites, no duel wielding, no forge, no split-screen.
Its all fine guys because its all about the “core arena experience.” We have Bots, the Academy, a Battle Pass. Community features and game modes aren’t detrimental to Halo’s identity at all.
I’ve been saying for months now that this game isn’t ready and needs another delay, management until recently has been awful for 343i, our boy Joseph Staten came back last year but there was only so much he can do when at its core, Halo Infinite was never conceived to launch completed.
All I’m saying is manage your hype ppl and never turn a blind eye.
What I took out of this is how much Chris Lee hurt Halo and finally they are on the right path. They are finally communicating with us and are taking it on the chin. They could of hid this from us like they did with Halo 5.
I doubt Bonnie Ross openly lied to us. That is just speculation and would be just plain stupid for them to do. Most likely issues came up within the last month or two that cannot be ironed out while polishing what is ready. We do not know why Co-op and Forge are being delayed and would like more transparency on this. It could of been optimization issues with the Xbox One to various hardware configurations on PC. This will be the first time they are also doing a longer range with tethering too.
Elite and duel wielding for me are features I never want to return to Halo outside of Custom Games so those don’t both me at all. Forge being delayed is minor because it will just help the community since it is coming out when the population usually falls. Co-op really sucks and is really a let down however I can wait 3 months. I also beat the game on Heroic solo, play a ton of multiplayer, then play on Legendary solo before I touch it.
I thought the presentation was great with the Development Update. They showed us a side of them that was refreshing while delivering great, and awful news. Everything they do has marketing behind it and that is the case for every single one of these that ever existed in the industry.
You state that people are blinded by hype, but it’s worth stating that many people are also blinded by pessimism as well.
I’m not even paying for the game, if it isn’t good I just won’t play it. I’m very excited to try the game, but by being negative beforehand you’re literally ruining your own enjoyment. I just assume it will be good and if it isn’t then fair enough, there’s plenty of good single player and multiplayer experiences to be had. The flight was fun, they’ve set some decent groundwork for this being a good experience for me personally.
There must be a lot of pressure on 343 right now because there are so many alternatives if it doesn’t resonate with people. Worry now, worry twice.
I like what I see of the game. I liked 4 and 5. With the rough development time they’ve had with this game, its no surprise to me that this is currently happening. We’ll just have to see how everything plays out. If they have an opportunity to delay and take it, I’ll fully support them. But honestly I want the game.

I get the hype to an extent, but no one has been given any more access than others Also what are these “red flags” you speak of? The hype is deserved as the game was delayed for a year, no coop is quite unacceptable at this point as that’s been a huge staple of Halo including Halo 5 especially.

I’m cutting them some slack for this personally because they have started fresh on a whole new engine but I really hope the six year wait was worth it.
for me personally Halo campaign has always first been about solo play and I can play that many times over. I rarely even play coop on any of the Halo games these days but it fantastic when I do so I’m happy to wait. Dual wielding isn’t something I’ll miss and not being able to play as Elites I’m also fine with
It’s a shame when people don’t get what they want and realistically I think it’s fair to expect some things should be there, but luckily for me I’m a campaign guy first. Anyway Forge wont allow for offline play so I wont be going near it anyway
The only thing that will deter me playing Infinite campaign is if it’s crap or requires you always be online to autheticate the game. No offline play means no purchase

If the complaints were as trivial as “Halo 5 sucked so 343 is going to screw up Infinite” then yes I would agree with it being simply blind pessimism.
However when one looks some of the facts and applies logic, that blind pessimism unfortunately becomes sour enlightenment. The game’s development has set off a number of alarms. We have:
- The very lengthy development cycle since Halo 5.
- Lack of communication regarding campaign.
- Managers and developers leaving and being replaced by freelancers/casual stuff (Shown in various job listings)
- Chris Lee (the game’s director) quitting just months away from launch.
- Writers being fired and replaced by Joseph Staten late in the game’s development. (I wish him the best of luck)
- The woeful demo from 2020 which showed 5 years worth of development progress for a game set to launch in a matter of months.
- The 12 month delay that followed that demo.
- And NOW integral features such as co-op being absent at launch.
All these are signs of a chaotic development cycle which, as we have seen with other games with similar development cycles, has resulted in a poor product. Perhaps a better word would be scepticism rather than pessimism, and it is scepticism that 343 has sadly earned with their handling of this franchise as well as the development of this most recent instalment. Either way I will be lowering my expectations come launch based on these factors and encourage others not to hype this or any game as seldom does any game live up to its hype.
I lower my expectations on all games since Fable1 and Halo2. I was expecting far more than I got with those games even though I grew to very mch enjoy them for what they were eventually. No game matches what the hypometer predicts and it’s just better to go in with low expectations to begin with
For Infinite campaign I’m hoping for decent gameplay based on the sandbox to begin with and a short campaign with typical agenda filled forgettable story and characters. Nothing too great then but if it turns out better than that then it’s a nice bonus. Lowering my expectations was the best thing I ever did although it’s definitely a shame I have to do it in the firts place. Infinite might just turn our amazing but I’m not going to convince myself of that possibility. The good thing is someone I know is getting it day one so I can make my decision without getting burned as well
And of course if the whole thing requires online to authenticate anyway then I just wont bother
