Does anyone think bleed-through should go back into the reach update? And possibly to halo 4?
At least in Arena and ZB.
No, never in Reach. It wasn’t designed for Reach, it destabilizes the gameplay and every cue the designers gave you in the game makes it feel wrong.
Honestly I don’t care about H4. If they intend it to be the game, they’ll make it feel right. Personally I like how shields worked in Reach but I accept that H4 will be a step backwards in most respects so I’ll manage.
Waaaaay too much sprint punching goin on now, its a bummer:/

How exactly is gameplay “destabilized?” by bleed?
Why do you think Halo 4 will be a step backwards? :S

This I agree with… I think it should be in the TU because to me it made more of a difference than the reduction of bloom.
If they can fix it without changing the melee damage to 75%, yes, having yet another setting different compared to Vanilla is just confusing.

My thoughts exactly. Bleedthrough rewards the player that puts three shots into a person before punching them with the death of the person taking the bullets. The current setting doesn’t reward shooting at all, it trains you to be a bumper jumping boxer.

I agree. The main reason i think bleed thru should be in effect is because of punching. It can totally be a cheap shot.
In Halo 4? Absolutely.
In Reach? I would like it, but then all the double pummel warriors would get upset again.
Why does everybody think that the only people that dislike Bleedthrough only do so because they spend all their time double meleeing everybody?..
Shield bleed through should be in every Halo game in every gametype and in every match, it makes no sense not to have it.

Having a 2-hit melee is confusing?
Not to sound like a noob but I had, before 2 weeks or so ago, been off Reach for well over a month…what is this bleedthrough thing people are discussing…?

When you receive an amount of damage greater than your shield has left, your shield would pop and the remaining damage applied to your health. It has been removed from everything but the Anniversary Classic and MLG playlists.
Previously, when you took 9 damage, with only 3 points of shield left, the shield would pop, and the remaining damage negated. With bleed, the 3 damage would break shield, giving you 6 health damage.
Hope that explains it.
ohhh I see, i never gave it much thought, any damage is bad damage. i guess it is all relative because what is being done to you can be done to others also so it equals out eventually except in the cases with low health once the shield pops the remaining damage would disappear. Either way i don’t think I would notice either way. Thnx for the info.
Personally, I found melee in all Halos past 3 to be a bit too OP. I know your Spartan’s a super soldier, but aside from Reach, it didn’t really look like he was doing anything that would manage to knock out an entire shield.
Bleedthrough would be nice, but only if they fixed the melee damage.

Because it has sprint.
