Blam! Problem Since August

Since last month, there has been a problem on Xbox Live where previously acceptable map names, descriptions, or service tags are being renamed to “Blam!” such as the MLG map Element, and some service tags such as Dave.

For me specifically, I cannot upload any content I’ve created to my fileshare because it says my gamertag is unacceptable, when this used to not be the case.

Do you (343) know about this, and if so, when will this be fixed? Thank you in advance for replying.

Just went through a similar problem b/c when I went to upload to my FS, I got “The Name of the Creator of the File is Not Allowed on XBL”. In which the name Zoidberg was prohibited. It seems to mainly be a MS XBL issue on their constantly updating Censor List. Solutions seem to be simple name changes but much like the MPAA, you have to figure out for yourself :frowning:

It’s out of 343’s hand, it’s a problem with the censor on Microsoft’s part, Zoidberg above me had the same problem and has since, changed his gamertag.

I don’t have any time to check what part of your name is inappropriate but it’s safe to say, something in there is now on the Censor.

I assumed it was on Bungie/343’s end because it has to do with Reach.

It’s clearly the “Fatal” in my GT that is censor-worthy, but it’s never been a problem before.

Sadly it seems like Microsoft seem to be updating the censor filter to words like Kill or Hacks or anything that is deemed too mature for children to learn. Microsoft are connecting themselves to the younger and more family-oriented audiences with Kinect being a sure fire example of this.

Its only a matter of time before Kinect and Microsoft become part of the American Dream ideology…

If games such as Call of Duty or Gears of War allowed 5 letter clan tags, you wouldn’t be able to actually use Fatal as it either, try inserting Fatal into your Motto on Xbox, it won’t allow you either, Microsoft has complete control over the word filter.
