Black Screen when trying to open HaloODST campaign

Loved Halo since Halo 1 and 2 back on the old X-Box, and was really excited about MCC when it was announced, and was slightly disappointed with the connectivity issues and lack of support, and I’ve had to go to great lengths to try and troubleshoot/delay playing the game to wait for the issues to be solved. Not to mention the fact that this is the only game in my entire steam library that takes forever and a day to write to the disk. It finishes downloading really quickly, and has less than half of the bar left, and it takes at least 10 hours to finish.
After yet another day waiting for MCC to update and ODST to finish downloading, now i cant even open the campaign. After hitting start, the game just fades to a black screen, and my computer treats it as if the game is closed, with it consuming barely any memory. Furthermore, it now refuses to be closed on steam or via task manager, with a constant “Waiting for Halo: The Master Chief Collection to shut down” message, basically rendering my steam unusable til I force close it. I have been having issues with every title launch in the MCC, but the rest I have managed to work out and fix, but this is beyond my meagre ability. Verified game integrity and reinstalled many times already, but to no avail.

I love the series and even own quite a number of books because I’m gripped by the universe and plot, but this honestly takes the cake on -Yoink-. I really want to play the rest of the game, and experience what I have missed due to not owning a console, but this is literally unplayable. Would like to hear if anyone has had similar issues, or have a fix for this, thanks in advance.
