My friend and I were keen as cucumbers to purchase this game after being avid fans of what the original brought to the halo universe. But shortly after the game’s launch, my friend experienced the dreaded “Black Screen and Crash” that no doubt many of you have faced, really souring our initially experience, with the game really revolving around teamwork (unless you wanna be rushed in 1v1 or other). After 6 months of not playing the game because he couldn’t play either, one patch seemed to have fixed the issue some time in the later half of last year and all was good (although we were still pretty upset that 6 months in we couldn’t play together). Up until the last few weeks we have been happily grinding through ranked battles until one faithful day, the bug returned, bringing back the dreaded black screen and crash. Now before you ask, both of us have well above the minimum graphics requirements and in the last 8 months or so we have been playing the game with no issue apart from some minor crashes and server disconnects. My friend’s hardware is superior to mine as he plays on his alien-ware laptop compared to my moderate PC, our settings are exactly the same in game and are optimized the same way via GeForce. Please can anyone explain why this occurs if they know? If there is a solution to this problem? Or an acknowledgement by a moderator that this is a problem for some people and you are working on a fix. Obviously I know that this game like others have their ups and downs, but I think that its a bit disappointing that we both payed for the Ultimate Edition, and for his game to not be working for almost half the game’s lifecycle since launch!
I am having this same issue
Unplayable for me I think it has something to do with my g-sync monitor, to be honest, the game will freeze and I still hear audio from the game still playing, but the screen is frozen when I “alt+enter” game will go window mode and crash to desktop. I installed the game on my wife’s computer which has the same setup as me, but no g-sync monitor and the game plays fine. Wish there was more help on this topic but it’s like everyone has moved on kinda pissed wasted $$ for this and its unplayable and no help.
