I get a black screen with a viable and moveable cursor when I load into certain matchmaking games. so far anything that is not boneyard in “reach invasion” results in this happening. The application itself is still responding and I can sometimes hear the voice chat. Had this happen to me once on firefight also.

EDIT: So the guys who said verifying your game files on steam are completely right!! You fix the issue by going to steam and verifying you game files. After which said missing files will be downloaded. Then the maps should load as expected.
I have the same exact problem. The map that is consistently doing this for me is any of the forge world maps (There are more maps besides just forge world that are causing this problem). I found that if I try to load forge world in a custom game, it just boots me back to the custom game menu, whereas matchmaking will black screen like you mentioned.

I 1 game of comp and firefight then I get black screen, then I have another issue in campaign too
I’ve experienced this now, twice. Does anyone know a solid method to get out of it? So far the only thing that has worked is to close the game from the toolbar, then restart the PC due to Steam thinking the game is still running.
Same here. Getting it every other game. Battle Creek is one for me that doesn’t load all the way. I can still chat and hear people talking but no gameplay sounds.

So far I’ve also found that just sitting and waiting until the game finishes will result in you going back to the matchmaking screen, though I doubt people have the patience for that, especially in a big team game. Does anyone know if 343 have said anything about it and/or how to correct it?

I found that this problem seems to happen when the map you are playing on hasn’t been downloaded/installed correctly. Can’t speak for forge maps but normal maps should be fixed (at least they were for me) after verifying the integrity of the game files which prompted steam to download some missing files.

Same. Sometimes I can get through 10 matches fine and other times I end up restarting my game 3 times in a row over 20 minutes.
yea found fix just verify the files again in the setting for game

Matchmaking is on dedicated servers. No one is host.

This is the fix. I just played a map I haven’t played on PC yet because of black screen.
Haha well I cant even play the game at all. The launching menu for mcc is just a black screen for me with a cursor and music in the background. I can hear the menu button sounds as I hover over them with the mouse but that is the extent of my halo reach experience on PC right now.
