Hi there, first time poster, long time fan.
As I started playing Halo 5 on my sweet looking Halo5 Guardians Limited edition Xbox One, I noticed that some of the cutscenes had a strange, black flicker as the video in between each level was played. In my naivity, I thought it may have been an intended storytelling tactic to add some kind of dramatic effect. After each subsequent level, the flickering in the cutscenes became heavier and heavier until they were virtually unviewable.
Then, once I hit mission 7 or 8, the flickering occurred on the levels themselves. Here is an example video:
As you can see, its virtually unplayable. Multiplayer/Matchmaking also had the same issue. Not a single map could be avoided of this flickering.
Troubleshooting:
- I have tried on two different monitors - one HD and the other non-HD
- I have tried different HDMI cables
- I have tried other games: it onyl happens on Halo 5 and I can replicate the issue without fail.
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game, twice. One while connected to ethernet and the other via wifi.
After not finding anything related online (this seemed different to the multiplayer beta issues people had earlier this year), I went to the retailer I bought it from and asked if there were any hardware related issues with the recent Halo Guardians XBOne console and game bundle. They referred me to Xbox. Xbox customer support ran their own remote troubleshooting tests and suggested it might be a game issue and referred me to here.
Any ideas folks?
