Black Armour Colour + Undersuits

As advertised in the Gamestop exclusive pre-order reward, the HUNTER-class armor was shown to have a clearly darker than our current darkest armour colour selection and the undersuit is not gray as it is now, it is black. This leads to the in-game version not looking nearly as good as what was advertised for people, considering the closest we can get now is gray. The same can be said for many armours. Even if you make the argument of black allowing people to blend in, they have removed a number of other colours, such as purple and sage, and yet I doubt you could use purple to hide in the shadows. Halo CE and their black armours were simply black variations of the only armour in that game, yet Halo 5 has different mechanics that doesn’t make it so easy to blend in and hide.

I can’t find any in-game pictures of the black variation of the armour in Halo: CE, so that is why none are linked.

I expect someone to say I’m whining about something small, but small things can add up to create a lot more. Details can make a great game, and I don’t expect 343i to cater to everyone individually but you cannot say I am the only one with the belief that we should have the black armour colour as atleast an option and the same with the black undersuit.

I’m sure they had black in H4 don’t know why they decided to take it out…

Not a clue either, they also took out other colours alongside black.

I want sage armor color and a black undersuit option.

I got lucky and my cyan/white (well, sorta white anyway) theme is still an option for me. I agree they removed too many colors though. They need RGB sliders. Also, the ability to change ALL the colors on your armor, not just the 2. This is one of the reasons I miss Reach customization, as well as the many more armor slots that were independant of each other. I hope they change it to be like that, but I am not gonna hold my breath, lol.

Please bring back black undersuits, and more color variants for our armor.

What we need is all of the forge colours as armour colours and to change it from a left to right slider to a complete colour table please 343.

To me it feels like the armor customization devolved from the last game. It’s supposed to get better right? Less colors is definitely one of the big ones. Then there is the fact we can only customize our helmet and armor, that’s it. You would expect more levels of color detailing and armor customization, but instead they took away from it.

In a way I understand their choice to do that. Imagine how many REQ unlocks there’d be if every type also had shoulders, knees and whatnot to go with the body and helmet. On the other hand: We’ve got waaaay too many duplicates. Especially the Athlon one. Yuk!

They did it in Reach, and I loved it. Every level it felt like you were actually being rewarded. Plus your character felt like it was YOURS. Plus, if they did that, it would extend the life of the game, IMO. Would love to have my old look again.

I’m surprised they didn’t go for it for exactly that reason. I’m really hoping there’s no more armor in the January update. I would like to get all that out of the way so I can get rare and ultra load out reqs. I have most of the BR and AR but still only have one DMR and about half the SMGs. I’d also like to finish the armor mods and assassinations. No more swapped color scheme armors please.

The reason black isn’t a color option is the same reason that Master Chief’s custom Mark VI isn’t available in Matchmaking: almost everyone would use it.

So instead almost everyone will use the darkest gray possible to imitate it.

I don’t really see the problem with more people using a certain color than others. It doesn’t exactly imbalance gameplay or cause any other such problems. You can’t force people to color their supersoldiers pink purple or yellow.

Black Armor and undersuits should definitely be implemented. And while they’re at, how about getting to customize individual pieces, like we could in Halo 3, Reach, and 4, you know, the older games? Seriously WTF is up with that? Halo 4 had an amazing level of customization, and now Halo 5’s doesn’t even have half the level of variation.

Didn’t 343 say before Halo 5’s release that we could customize our undersuits? I hope I 'm not mistaken because if I’m not, well whatever happened to that?

Maybe they’ll add it back as Req pack items?

New permanent unlock! Black undersuit!

Black undersuit and sage please.

This would be perfect, and it might even be easier for them because they could automate it.

What they need to do is add a proper color slider for armor and undersuits so people can be whatever color they like.

Sage was actually in the beta, which is what pisses me off.

I’m really hurting without my sage armor. The only way to do it is to find an armor that has darkened secondary slots and then use the “wax” color. So far I’ve only acquired two (decent-looking) armors like this: Soldier and Protector (with Aviator helmet).

I also use these armors because the darkened secondary makes your red or blue team armor look slightly more bearable than how absolutely hideous it looks with standard secondary and excessive white striping. That’s another thing that REALLY bothers me about this game. Team armor colors are way too vivid to the point that they drown out any subtle detail in your armor and make the graphics look cheap. On brightly lit maps (like Raid on Apex 7) team armor colors look HORRIBLE to the point that the game is actually significantly less enjoyable.

I’ve never liked how Halo multiplayer armor color choices have always been more about “do you want this rainbow color or this rainbow color?” rather than giving us a bunch of military-type colors that look fitting for a soldier to be wearing. Not saying take away those rainbow colors, just saying that there need to be just as many military-looking colors as those rainbow colors. Give us a whole plethora of sandy shades, olive shades, subtle blues like Fred and Kelly’s armor, etc.
