Bit tired of people trying to cheese you everygame

I’m personally a bit tired of seeing people that rush every single game and try to end the game so early. To me, it takes the fun out of the game, and doesn’t let you enjoy playing with the leader you chose, and his powers. I’m tired of seeing decimus rush choppers, then go directly into banshees every game. I’m also really really tired of being a banished player going against tier one snipers, Marines, and flamers literally every time I’m against a unsc player. Afterwards, these unsc player go straight for air spam. Mind you, I know how to counter these things, but it’s just not fun to have to stop a rushing cheese tactic every single game. It seems very cheap to me, and takes really no skill to do. I would really prefer people at least in ranked to stop playing like this, because it’s annoying, and this may sound rude, but it’s just dumb. Let other people enjoy the game, and stop with these tactics(note, I only listed some of the cheese tactics, not all of them)

Rushing is part of this game my friend and it’s not dumb or cheap. It’s a strategy like fast tech or turtle. You can’t just sit on your base for 1 hour and expect that your opponent just wait until you’re ready to play. If i gain map control early on and see that my opponnent just fast techs of course I’m gonna push his base, does it make sense for you that i just retreat and chill on my base waiting until he comes and crushes me?
Rush counters fast tech, fast tech counters turtle and turtle counters rush.
It’s that simple

And some tactics are going to be more enjoyable to different people more than other tactics. That’s the nature of RTS games and people.

don’t hate the player hate the game.

If you really want to insist on playing in a certain way which goes against the way the game was designed then I would suggest playing customs instead of ladder. Right now your post is just “I hate playing people who try and win in a competitive playlist”.

This is an extremely aggressive RTS. You need to fight over every minibase, every node, every supply crate, and every inch of map control. True rushes are not very practical in this game because its very easy to make some units and a turret or two and stomp it. If someone cheeses you and gets a large amount of building killers to your base, that’s your fault for letting them get there. You want to get to the mid/late game? Fight for it.

Cheeses are actually very easy to stop as long as you see it coming. Scout, then set up a defense. That means grabbing res drones if UNSC or getting engies if Banished. Then when they come to your base have your army there waiting. Once their cheese has been defended, counter push and win. Pretty easy.

Scout and don’t let them get to your base, don’t be forced into engies or a heal lol unless it gets really bad. As long as you scout early 1:30-2mims you can stop it. Just build the counter, they are normally just spamming building killers so flamers or scouts stop this easy with 1-2 turrets incase they make it to your base. If you catch them in the middle of the map and chase them to your main they will be dead before they get there.

but if they get to your base first and your not prepared you will likely lose.

you said you can stop cheeses so just think of it as Easy wins, most low skilled players use this technique as it catches alot of people of guard.

i would personally cheese if i don’t recognise the players name because i don’t want a 20 mimute game for 1 point against a low ranked player.

Rushes aren’t even cheesy.

You know what’s cheesy? Kinsano’s cyclops appearing at your base out of nowhere in the middle of the game, spamming inferno, flame wall, flame hogs and napalm strike, if not outright killing your base, then crippling it heavily, and then when your army finally arrives, she runs away faster than freaking Sonic the Hedgehog… THAT is cheesy.

I take 2 ppl that don’t know how to play tell them to go deci and we go triple deci. I tell them to build 1 grunt upgrade shrapnel mines and all unit to opponents base so we take turn vortexing the base usually we kill it around 1:30 to 2min then they quit.

:smiling_imp: you have no idea

My Pavium tends to fend off the rushers for a good while. 3 of them got so salty that they sent me a whole paragraph essay explaining why i’m such a dirtbag playing Pavium and how I should be Swatted. Honestly, he’s not all that OP, I don’t understand why people hate him.

Look, you can’t ask people in ranked to stop rushing because its just absurd. Ranked is all about the winning in the end for high level players (or recruits that want to really forward their skill), and my fireteam and I learned that the hard way. We were just like you around 6 months ago, always loved the 15-20 minute set up for fully upgraded armies to clash (as we did in Halo Wars 1) and see who comes out the victor and then clash again until someone manages to kill a base, and we were heavily against rushing because you end up using 1 or 2 units to quickly crush an enemy in under 10 minutes which probably also stems from the first halo wars game where you would wait around 20 minutes for a match to lose in around 8 minutes. Ranked matches is about quickly dispatching your enemy before they can drag out the match and potentially de-rank you, and we quickly found that slowly upgrading tanks or other vehicles, trying to pump a scarab out casually doesnt work because either you have to put pressure on the enemy and destroy their economy or its gonna happen to you because who wins and who loses matters. Slowly we got very good at countering rushes so much so that being rushed doesn't worry us much at all because weve faced pretty much all of them and know how to counter. As for team war, which is where we go for some casual matches to test out other leaders or strategies, their is still a likelihood of being rushed, but I find personally it is less likely to happen then in ranked. If being rushed still concerns you however I can give you some tips:

1.) Use your leader to his/her strengths, sometimes beating a rush means taking it to the enemy before they have an army or even using your leader to distract their rush long enough so that you can counter theirs, but try not to lose your leader. Upgrades on your leaders are also crucial, for example giving Douglas his rocket launcher makes him very effective against infantry if used properly.
2.) Build two turrets at the front of your base “or where you think your likely to be attacked from”, these act as deterrents and support NOT AS A DEFENCE, a true powerful rush will often crush your turrets, and I can say from personal experience that they dont bother me when I rush. 3.) Build additional marine squads, this can be an invaluable thing, often you will have spare funds if your trying to upgrade an army or even build your leader the first time if you use your current marine squads to scout and gather supplies. Also mini bases with a supply pad is invaluable for the supplies it provides and for the marine pumping capability and the ability for those units themselves to gather additional supplies. 4.) Anticipate what each leader is capable off, people generally pick leaders because a particular strategy works well with them. Someone who picks Shipmaster as their leader is likely to use him to cloak and being banished, may also use anti-building bois to wipe you out, so prepare as though that is going to happen the same as if someone who is Colony is likely to rush with Goliaths, so be prepared for that. 5.) A rush strategy has one main flaw, mostly it needs the player to swing their full economy towards the rush so that they can pump out as many units as possible as quickly as possible. If a rush fails, this can be very detrimental because they depend heavily on crippling or defeating you so that they dont have to play a late game match (or one that goes for more than 10 to 15 minutes). If you can defeat a rush, most people will be vulnerable and putting pressure on them with your own counter army can win you the match or cripple them.
6.) Final tip, capture at least the 1 or 2 power nodes in front of your base, not only does it provide an invaluable amount of power early game, It allows you to spot a rush a several seconds before one arrives in most cases allowing you to draw all units back to counter them and/or build additional turrets around the back of your base for more firepower support.

This was actually much more detail then I thought I wrote but ah well. I hope this helps you or at least someone. Rushes are always going to be a major part of the game, and your never going to be able to convince every single person to stop rushing, but what you can do is give yourself a “shield” to protect yourself from an attack.

Check the forum I just posted. Might apply to you give your thoughts

I used to think that too, but if they succeed, it’s probably because you were too busy trying to max up to Tech 2 instead of building a Barracks, so that would be on you my friend.
