Why does the binary rifle still have the (for lack of better words) lazer pointer? I definitely understood why it as implemented on the H4 Binary Rifle, but I don’t see why it was brought back in H5. To get a kill with the H5 Binary Rifle you need to keep the crosshairs trained on the enemy for the duration of the beam. You’re also adjusting to recoil, player movement, and sometimes enemy fire. It also has a low ammo capacity. As far as warzone goes the Binary Rifle just doesn’t compete with the other snipers. Point is the gun isn’t OP, so why is the lazer pointer there?
I have three ideas
Give Binary Rifles a red scope glare
Remove laser pointer from the 2nd tier Binary Rifle
Dim the lazer a tad bit
Personally, I like the lazer pointer for aesthetics because it makes the gun interesting, but at times I feel like it’s holding the gun back.

I agree with you , in Halo 4 the lazer line was used to balance it as it was a 1 shot anywhere, and there was also no reasonable chance to no scope people
While in halo 5 its a hold for damage (usually at long range) weapon , making it pretty difficult to use. As they have enabled the use of no scoping i am not sure if this is a big enough change to justify the holding for damage aspect
For me personally the binary rifle is weaker as a sniper compared to Halo 4 (isnt this its intended purpose)
But is far stronger at no scoping (typically short/ medium range ) .
So overall i am slightly confused as to the reasons for the changes , maybe 343i just thought it was too strong?
well all snipers have there give aways, if anything i prefer the laser of the binary rifle because I dont just sit there zoomed in with the weapon, quick scoping with it is fairly simple and effective.

That’s definitely the learning curve for the gun, but you have to question if it is necessary in balancing the gun. If the gun is intended to snipe someone cross map then your intended targets are a good distance away. Too often have I used a sentinel DMR scope to find targets and then switched to the Binary Rifle, just to realize I could of picked them off quicker with the DMR.
Potentially what could be added/ changed about the Binary rifle is that the lazer pointer stays so the sniper can be identified easily , but the target/ general area its pointing at is blinded slightly making it difficult for them to escape/ return fire
This would make the Binary rifle more of a supportive weapon , while maintaining some weaknesses and its actual sniping potential
I like the binary file as it is. We have enough sniper/beam rifles, this one acts as a sniper rifle and a quick short range spartan laser if you can aim well. I like what 343 did with it.

I like that idea. Giving the the laser pointer some sort of use other than helping the enemy figure out where you are. Heh There are even times I use an empty Binary Rifle to scare the enemy away in WZ. Once the enemy pulls out a fancy REQ they become passive as soon as the lazer aims at them.
