Binary rifle etc. in multiplayer

Does anyone think that the binary rifle, fuel rod and incineration canon are waaaayyy too OP to be in multiplayer ?

In the past the fuel rod (also gauss hogs usually) was never in MP because Bungie realised it was far too good.

why does this reek of another bu77hurt thread?

There is a reason the Binary rifle has 2 bullets per clip.
There is a reason Fuel Rod rounds move slower then Rockets.
There is a reason you only get 1 shot per charge with the incinerator.

They are fine, its just never fun to be on the receiving end of any of those weapons.

> They are fine, its just never fun to be on the receiving end of any of those weapons.

I don’t find it fun to be on either end of any of them. There’s no fun in getting kills when I know I have a big unfair advantage (binary rifle vs sniper for example)

they’re fine. It’s rare that they show up on a map unless it’s objective based, and it’s still hard to take on two people at once… even with an incinerator cannon.

Keep 'em. They’re not very common and all have their drawbacks. Communicate with your team to keep an eye where enemies with power weapons are and take them out.

Just as likely to get kills with rockets as incineration cannon or fuel rod. Take those out too?

> They are fine, its just never fun to be on the receiving end of any of those weapons.

I feel like this should be a very important consideration for multiplayer weapon design. In a game that is known for elongated kill times, OSKs may be received as out of place.

That said, both the incineration cannon and FRG fall pretty much in line with the rocket launcher. You will more often than not know they are coming, and if you don’t, it’s more often than not your fault. They don’t come in PODs (that I know of), so everyone knows when they are in play and can expect to have to deal with them. Also, you have to be in relative close proximity for them to be reliable due to slow projectile speed.

On the other hand, sniper rifles don’t have any of these weaknesses, and they do come in PODs. This is a more important issue to address, IMO. Combined with the fact that it seems 343 has made them easier to use while removing any real potential for someone without a sniper to fight back by pinging them out of scope, the sniper rifles in this game are very frustrating to be on the receiving end of, easy to use, overbearing, and prevalent.

You can definitely tell that 343 put a lot of effort into making all the weapons balanced and i believe this to be true with these weapons. No harm in a power weapon that does its job

in a snipers match, a binary loses fyi. Recoil, and the fact you can’t scope without letting everyone know exactly where you are.

They’re fine. It’s the random ordinance that makes it OP.

Sick of Ragnarok matches where the opposing team is getting Binarys and Snipers in their random ordinance and my team appears to only be getting Concussion rifles and Needlers.

I am also tired of it the other way around. It’s not fun to completely dominate a team and then face multiple black screens as people get frustrated and quit.

Oh well. MP is still fun. Im just looking forward to the TU.

I don’t mind if they are spawned at the start of the game and both teams have a fair go at grabbing them as long as they are not used in ordinance drops.

> in a snipers match, a binary loses fyi. Recoil, and the fact you can’t scope without letting everyone know exactly where you are.

This is the big killer for the Binary Rifle - you can’t scope without letting everyone on the map know exactly where you are.

This means that you REALLY have to move around (which you should be doing while sniping anyway) and rely more on reaction time instead of sitting in scope.

I have found all of the weapons in this Halo to be suprisingly balanced.

They’re pretty rare, and don’t have much ammo.

They stay.

Hmmm it’s just the 5 shots per clip that I think makes the fuel rod too good. With rockets you get two shots and then you’re going to be killed before you can reload which is fair. With a fuel rod there’s much more room for error or you can potentially take out five people before reloading, also much faster rate of fire than a rocket launcher so if you miss it really doesn’t even matter.

you could say the same with all the other power weapons
there named power weapons because of their strength.
there’s a reason why you sould control where they spawn, so you can take them as you please.
all power weapons are OP
thats their nature, but each has a weakness. a wrather large one at that.

LOL

Remember we have random Ordinance now? No more power weapon control. Just more randomness.

Right map-based Ordinance is COMPLETELY random and there is NO possible way you could control them.
You just keep thinking that.

All of these come in PODs, btw, they’re just more rare than other weapons. On the other hand, the railgun is also a OSK (unless you miss) and drops somewhat frequently, though it has its own disadvantages.

No way the fuel rod is finally perfect its strong but not to strong now if they made the annoying bullets stop bouncing it would be too powerful.

Both the Fuel Rod cannon and the Gauss Hog have been in Halo MP for a long time. Not sure why you think they weren’t???

Go play Reach right now on Spire or Boneyard…

The binary is definitely a double edged sword, the fuel rod cannon is actually pretty hard to get a kill with unless you catch someone with their back turned and the gauss hog seems op at first, but its just as vulnerable to plasma pistol shots as any other vehicle. Plus, every time I get a map with the gauss, spartan lasers are a ordinance drop.
