Bigger Skill Gap for H4

Anybody else think the skill gap has gotten smaller since Halo 2, The Halo 3 BR for example was bullet spread instead of Hitscan so unless you’re playing on LAN there’s bloodshots, also luck was involved. Secondly the movement was a bit slow compared to Halo 2. Now there’s Halo Reach…The hitboxes are a bit too big considering when strafing and people are still 5 shotting you because of the absurd auto aim. The bloom makes DMR fights random and nades don’t help that people use them as primary weapons. Even with Zero Bloom it’s more of who see’s who first basis because by the time someone is getting shot they already have 2-3 shots on you. Heck I remember having the most trouble killing pros in H2. Now the only thing pros are better at is team shooting. Skill wise I think people who put the most time in the game should be rewarded and not hindered by bloom or any other nonsense, especially hit boxes and auto aim being decreased so strafing because an essential part of the game. I really like how Halo 4 is looking gameplay wise and hopefully a ranked playlist with a strip down of all the armor abilities with static spawns for power weapons would be ideal for me and most of competitive community would agree hopefully.

yes but don’t forget that bullet magnetism was very high in Halo 2. The gameplay was much faster/more powerful weapons - (killing was quicker and somewhat easier). Duel wield allowed for even quicker kills.

I’m not really sure if the skill gap has changed as it is difficult to judge as Reach completely changed Halo gameplay wise

Halo 2 was alot easier than halo one, but yes its getting lower and lower with each Halo.

Although, if halo 2 didnt have the glitches, id put halo 3 above it in terms of skill.

I think I know some ways the skillgap can be increased.

First of all, let’s start with the BR.

The BR should have recoil, but no spread. Then, it should take TWO headshots to kill. That way, you cannot spray and get a headshot kill. You will have to get a solid burst to the head. I think this would work wonderfully.

The AR

The Assault Rifle should have bloom. The Assault Rifle was the only gun that really benefitted from bloom. Bloom allowed you to fire the AR accuratly. The AR should also get a much greater damage bonus for headshots. Say, 4 headshots to kill. This way, skilled players might perfer using an AR over a BR. And the AR won’t become a “noob gun.”

The DMR

Give it recoil

Lower aim assist

Decrease hitbox sizes

Remove bloom

Increase rate of fire while lowering damage by one shot. (otherwise the DMR would be OP). Or ROF could be decreased and the damage would stay the same while the clip size would be returned to 12.

I don’t think you have played CE multiplayer on PC before.

CE had tons of lag

CE had overpowered grenades

CE had no ranking system

CE had a pistol that made half of the sandbox useless

The only reason it’s easier to kill in H2 is because there is less lag, which is a good thing.

H2 Multiplayer>Halo CE Multiplayer

Please don’t get on the bandwagon of older = better multiplayer

False. You had to lead your shots in the original, and there was much less bullet magnetism.

I have liked almost every halo more than Halo CE. Yes it was ground breaking and awesome at the time, but each game got better and better.

Of course I had the most lols and awesomeness with H3, reach is still fun to play most of the time, but yes the skill gap has gotten much smaller.

Hopefully H4 is epic again, and I hope they incorporate rank based stuff from H2 H3 and Reach.

H2 true skill made me want to keep playing ranked over and over, and I like the progress bar and emblems.

H3 play list ranks were awesome, I wish all play lists from now on had a rank like this that is just based on a number of wins etc. and maybe division-ess for win% in that playlist. That should make everyone happy.

Halo Reach. I do like earning credits or spartan points to buy things, makes it fun and I like challenges to complete. Makes me want to play with the entire sanbox. I would love to see a commendation type system for each and every weapon

My thread explains how we can increase the skill gap:

As much as I like Halo PC, you just can’t use it when talking about skill gaps and game comparisons. Gotta go with the Xbox version.

Indeed. I never played Halo CE on the PC, so I can’t comment on its skill gap, but on console, Halo CE clearly had the highest skill gap.
