Speaking as an avid Warthog fan who was happy with the new BTB the first week or so. Heavies and more regular vehicle spawns are desperately needed. The current BTB, even with the 8 extra players, lead to the type of games you’d get on Longshore, Rat’s Nest, and Standoff which is fine but it gets repetitive. Halo Infinite currently has no equivalents to Valhalla, Avalanche, or Sandtrap in terms of the gameplay they provide.
Suggestions for the Current maps.
Highpower, the Least symmetrical map, is already set to be the designated flying map with it’s relatively open sky, free of Jagged peaks or a Banished AA gun. I’d ask that you lean into that design choice, take the Wasps that already spawn and increase their spawn rate. Give them the same timer that warthogs have and add in a pair of Banshee’s while your at it. As Janky as the two Banshee V Wasp fights I’ve had were, they were still the most fun I’ve had in on this map.
Deadlocked, Is one of the best Warthog maps in all of the Halo games I’ve played and the best one in Infinite. Adding Tanks and Aircraft would mess that up but, what do need to be added are Ghosts, Choppers, and Gungoose. All the things that make this map Great for the Warthog would also apply to the other small attack vehicles.
Fragmentation, is the most cramped of the maps. Two Forerunner structures on either end of an oblong Canyon, filled with jagged spires on either side surrounding a larger central spire, It’s also the most Symmetrical of the BTB maps with most of the differences coming down to whether or not something is made of rock and earth or chrome hexagonal scaffolding. Out of the current BTB map pool this is the one that would do the best as a Tank map with regular and symmetric Scorpion and Wraith spawns. Deadlocked has already been discussed, but it bears mentioning that the shade turrets would become useless if tanks were normal. Highpower’s design would leave one side constantly under siege if regular tank spawns were added.
Let’s be clear there needs to be a more open map designed for all the vehicles to hash it out, but that currently does not exist. (For an example on how to do an open level design well, see Sandtrap, for how to do it less-well, see Standoff)
