Sure, it’s how they play that matters most and I’m sure I’ll have a blast duking it out with some old school Big Team Battle.
However…
The textures used to create these brand spanking new maps leave much to be desired if you ask me. They remind me more of that ancient Sim Copter game on the PC more than anything.
Then again this is free content we are talking about. Is there no room to argue or should we have expected better from a developer that had reaped millions of dollars from selling the Halo name?
I’m sure I’ll have fun with it either way. I think it’s cool these maps were made by community members. And I think it is safe to say that we’ll get some actual 343 made BTB maps, if not on the initial release of the playlist, then later down the line.
I suppose we’ll just have to see but the screenshots are really dodgy looking. Multiplayer maps in general have been disappointing compared to every single other title. Mainly due to the low number of non-Forge maps provided. It would seem that they are getting lazy and focusing more on selling the Halo name than developing something legit.
Well considering these are all forge maps and ACTUAL BTB maps will be coming later (most likely with the December update) I’m not too shocked that they look so bland at first.
I’ll also say this: compared to previous forges (especially 4’s) these forge pieces look incredibly detailed and bring a sense of atmosphere to the map. I’ll agree that they could’ve at least changed the colors of some of the walls on some maps, but hey, it’s better than nothing.

This. I think the current BTB maps are just meant to hold us over until DLC maps come out.
Better than nothing is a good stance to take if they intend to pump out a few real deal maps in the coming updates. I can accept these for now but I’ll keep critical of their decisions since I expect better.

That’s usually how the previous games rolled. Forge built content often came in bulk much later on in a game’s lifespan as the community fine tunes their craft.
They might have just done this to get Halo 5 out on the market before the new year and I’m not massively dissatisfied with the launched product as there is plenty enough to do. But we all crave more in some way or fashion.
yeah been playing it all morning. Fun for sure, especially since I haven’t really been digging Warzone. But man the maps look bad. Distractingly bad. The textures are terrible.
