Big team battle playlist Discussion <*>

I have been playing BTB for a very long time, and i have a few ideas that will help make HALO 4’S BTB great and Competitive but still fun even for the less diehard BTB fan.

I believe the following factors are key elements for the playlist:

Party Recognition (Parties matching Parties)
Competitive Player will love matching party’s.
IMPLEMENT PARTY RESTRICIONS for party’s of 5 or more

no splitting parties / Keep party’s the same for rematch like in REACH

Equal Distribution of Power Weapons (Map specific)
static spawns, more symmetrical maps
balanced and useful vehicles.

Game types to keep
1-Flag on one sided maps/smaller maps - symmetrical maps ok

Multi Flag CTF - symmetrical maps only - p.s. let us juggle the flag thanks

Neutral Bomb Assault - symmetrical maps only

1 Bomb Assault on one sided maps/ smaller maps - symmetrical maps ok

Territories ok on both one sided maps and symmetrical maps

Big Team Slayer - 100 kills to WIN - symmetrical maps ONLY - keep slayer off one sided maps

BTB Heavy was absolutely amazing in Halo 3.

None of this 200 points thing / JUST 100 kills to win or flag/bomb game types.
Try to build some maps to cater to BTB in HALO 4 -
where we can have some or Halo 4’S BIG TOYS LIKE / Scorpions, Wraiths, Choppers, Banshees and Hornets rolling and flying about.

Game types to say NO to
BTB Stockpile
BTB Headhunter - Is a FFA game type
BTB Elite Slayer - Elites are Not in HALO 4
BTB SWAT
BTB Snipers

A RANKED 8v8 Big Team Battle PLAYLIST WOULD BE AMAZING.
As alot of people are asking for that in this topic.

I think there needs to be two playlists a social playlist Big Team Battle and bring Squad battle back but make it 8v8 because really that’s all squad was in Halo 3 was ranked BTB.

I also think its important that 343i makes BTB have more variety for objective gametypes. I really like one flag and one bomb. Halo 2 had spectacular 1 flag/bomb maps but reach only came with two BTB maps which are mostly suitable for invasion.

There also needs to be less community-made maps.

Id like to see more 12-16 player maps. Terminal, standoff, relic, are some great examples.

p.s OP this isnt an official thread you may want to remove “official” from your title, just adding unofficial to it doesnt mean anything.

also needs loadouts and sprint. cos it create diversity of the playing field since it isn’t majorly competitive.

halo 4’s BTB could be great

I feel that being apart of a Competitive Halo BTB Team, I have extra weight in this topic. The players at BigTeamBattle.net know how BTB should be played, but with that being said, it should also be fun for people new to the playlist, or those taking a less serious approach. My ideas are:

Static Spawns
Symmetrical Maps
Ranked & Social Playlist
Party Recognition (Parties matching Parties)
More Developer made Maps, not Customs ones
BR/DMR/??? starts
Equal Distribution of Power Weapons (Map specific)
Few Loadouts if not none
Useful Vehicles
Multi Flag
Neutral Bomb
1 Flag

Working these aspects in will push more a more rewarding and fun BTB atmosphere. Hopefully 343 can head to the call.

I agree with most of these “key elements” in the thread. BTB is about having that perfect blend of Slayer/Objective maps that make it so great. Let’s lead 343 in the right direction towards making a good start in the next trilogy that is Halo.

8v8 Halo was the reason I got XBL. I miss Big Team Skirmish. (Halo 2’s ranked BTB, Objective-only playlist - I was a 36 in it :slight_smile: - uh, shameless self-promotion here!)

I disagree with Slayer being exclusively on symmetrical maps though. Plus, a rare weighting on Team Snipers appearing in BTB should be there.

What 343i desperately needs is more maps that work for not only Slayer but OBJECTIVE. H3 and Reach massively failed to deliver on a decent amount of maps suited to Objective gametypes, let alone the stellar amount we had in H2.

Only if there’s a Social BTB playlist as well for fun, relatively uncompetitive gametypes.

Halo 2 had Big Team Skirmish (ranked) and Big Team Slayer (unranked) it worked majestically until the Halo 3 beta came along and whoever was in charge got a bump on the head then ditched all forms of ranked BTB. Well… That’s my hypothesis as to what happened.

It made me play CoD 3 religiously for a month or two for my massive player games. Yes, three. That isn’t a typo.

1 sided slayer maps were blue team spawns on a higher part of the map and has a better shot at winning .

great slayer maps are even not one sided…

I would really like to see a BTB RANKED playlist: Ranked Big Team or Squad Battle would be Great!

Maybe your right, I’m not going to lie and said I’ve done the research on whether Red or Blue wins more on asymmetrical maps because I haven’t! I’m just thinking back to Halo 2 and thinking if we never used asymmetrical maps in Slayer gametypes in the BTB playlists we never would of to play on maps like Terminal, Relic, Zanzibar, Burial Mounds, etc.

That wouldn’t be good in my opinion.

I agree with just about everything in the OP, except the statement made about 1 flag. That should never be in BTB.

But 343, ranked big team with BR starts would make the community that I am involved in a very happy one.

There needs to be a proportional selection of competitive symmetrical and asymmetrical maps that can support both objective AND team slayer EVENLY. its really just a balance issue, a lot of that can be done with power weapon spawns and starting spawn points and/or bases. i.e. I guarantee Red team wins more games on Reflection then any other map in reach, simply because red team spawns a mere sprint away from a full set of rockets. and that was a halo 2 map! but we see it with several other maps in reach, like boardwalk. Great 1 flag/1 bomb map but its really not a far map for both teams in a slayer game, considering the team with the high ground also has a better shot at getting rockets.
These are little things that 343 needs to think about when they set up there maps, focus on the competitive side of 8v8 rather then just 4v4.
I feel like competitive 8v8 is the way halo was meant to be played, some people may agree but most wont.

1 flag plays great it just depends on the map boardwalk is fine and so are many others
