So in the Master Chief Collection, when you start Halo 2, you get a scene between Spartan Locke and the Arbiter. At what point does Spartan Locke ever have time to do this during Halo 5? This would have had to happen after he received the orders to leave and get Chief, but before the visiting Sanghelios. In the background of the scene, we see what possibly could be the rest of Osiris, but the emotion portrayed in this scene is null and void because when the Arbiter and Locke meet in Halo 5, it appears that this conversation from the added Halo 2 cutscene never happened. Also, Arbiter wields a Red Sword in H5, and blue one in this cutscene. I think this can be written off to oversight, but it just adds to the fact that there is obvious missing content (levels even) from this game.
it’s on the phantom before the battle of scion I assume, can’t remember exactly though. The sword is probably just something they hadn’t yet added in when the cutscene was made, doesn’t bug me too much.

Yep, most likely
I believe it’s right before Buck asks Tanaka to say a word or two on the Phantom or Lich
the entire game is a massive plot hole and I’ve given up trying to make sense of it. Unless halo 6 is -Yoinking!- amazing, 343 pretty much killed the story of halo

Yeeeeeep.
“Chief. Cortana is evil!”
“I know.”
HOW DID HE ARRIVE TO THIS CONCLUSION!?

This looks legit.

If this is the case, then why does Arby confront Locke about being the Oni Solider who was going to assassinate him in-game? They talked about trust in the Halo 2 cutscene and then Locke still explains to Arby he is looking for Chief.

Yup, the plot is beginning to contradict itself. Look at the Domain - there is and will be no way to explain it’s survival. When the Halo Arrays fired, ALL Precursor artifacts and technology built on Neural Physics was destroyed including the Domain. So how did it survive? Don’t give me the “they said it was ‘apparently destroyed’ argument”. I ain’t buying it.

Similar to the Halo 4, “Oh I guess the covenant broke the truce” argument. I don’t want to sit here and wait until Halo 6 to have Halo 5 make sense.

Good point. They never really explain how Blue Team realized she was dangerous.
I’m gonna sound like a d*ck for saying this, but the fact that you guys have to be spoon fed specific information to figure crap out is sad.
Just because you don’t understand what happened in the Campaign doesn’t mean they didn’t explain it, it just means you’ve given or effort to try and think about it. Kind of ruins the whole story when out of the blue some stupid person or situation comes up where the point of it all is explained as if it were read right out of the damn script.
Also, I’m pretty sure the MCC scene isn’t canon. Arbiter already knew what Locke’s mission was before they left for Sunion.

The writing is poor. It’s been poor since 343 took over. It’s not a matter of being spoonfed. I understand the story, I just think they cut corners and clearly rushed content. The story they advertised was much more interesting than the story they ended up delivering. I don’t know many who disagree with that. And if the MCC scene isn’t canon, why put it out there. Even more so, why include it at the beginning of playing Halo 2, a game where we were introduced to the arbiter.

I realized she was evil before they said in game, I didn’t have to have anyone to explain it to me. Good story telling doesn’t involve having every piece of information explained to you.

If we need to be spoon fed specific information to figure crap out then the specific information we need is the Domain. It was destroyed (as it was a Precursor structure and built with Neural Physics) when the Halo Arrays fired but it’s here, present in Halo 5, intact. How did it even survive when anything else that was Precursor was destroyed? It doesn’t explain or hint at such in the campaign.

I think there were parts of the game that were cut out.
When you first meet Exuberant Witness she says if they are also there to stop Cortana.
Makes it sound like she talked with them but we never see this happening.

Dude… 343’s writing is POOR? Compared to Bungie? Please. Bungie is the one who stopped caring about halos story so much that they made Halo Reach completely contradict pre established canon. 343 had to come in and fix that mistake as best they could, and it’s still not perfect. This is the Bungie that made Halo 3, which (while I still loved it’s story) was RIDDLED with plot holes. Bungie released around 7-8 books in 10 years. 343 has already released around 8 of their own within 3 years. Bungie may have created this universe, but it’s clear that 343 cares more about it than they ever did. I’m not saying Halo 5 is perfect, but I don’t mind it.

In my opinion tanakas choice of words could of been way cooler. Kinda cheesy eh?

I agree100% they built up the story and it wasn’t as good or “goosebumps” bringing as I was SUPER excited about.

Probably in the hours Chief was wandering around the Domain link talking to Cortana. Exuberant Witness specifically says that Cortana kept Bkue Team holed up for a while before Osiris showed up. It’s not a stretch, and it certainly isn’t as big a deal as you seem to think.

It’s actually really simple. The Precursors were an extragalactic civilization, they existed and influenced elsewhere. It’d be illogical to assume the Domain doesn’t extend outside the Milky Way in some form. The Halos destroyed either the Precursor links or the Domain itself within the Milky Way, and it had been repairing itself ever since. The Intel on Genesis also says that the Domain links were repaired shortly before Cortana fully accessed it. No contradictions here, just you not looking far enough into it.

The story since 343i took over is the best it’s ever been. Under Bungie, they actively ignored or entirely rewrote novel elements in the games. Halo 3 still remains a game of swiss cheese, filled so full of plot holes and nonsensical dramatic moments that it and its characters honestly didn’t know where they were going.
The MCC scenes are probably non-canon, just symbolic representations of what was happening. Why put them in there? Because that’s the entire point of advertising and hinting? Almost all promotional materials are mostly non-canon, just symbolic. And don’t try to single out Halo 5 for a misleading marketing campaign.
Everything the marketing campaign said would happen, did happen. It just didn’t have the same weight as you assumed. Halo 2 was advertised as a war for Earth, yet we spend a total of 2 missions there and forget about it. Halo 3 was advertised as focusing on a last stand at Earth, yet Earth’s plot elements really were insignificant, and we didn’t finish the fight. The Gravemind outright said defeat at the Ark wouldn’t be the end of him, there are tons more Covenant out there than what Truth brought to the Ark, and the Legendary Ending showing that the story was far from over.
You can disagree with Halo 5’s direction, by all means that’s perfectly fine. But don’t try to form plotholes out of your own misunderstanding and ignore all the other games’ identical issues when trying to pick apart Halo 5.
