I was wondering how far off the idea is of expanding our halo journey. What I mean by that is being able to play a halo game but as a civilian/survivor running from planet to planet on old junky freighters desperately escaping being glassed, or fighting massive battles as unsc grunt, or flying through space as a long sword pilot, commanding your own fleet. Give it a mass effect rpg feel. The possibilities are endless and I like John a lot and want to continue playing as him but I feel like theirs a bigger story that could be told and explored. I think this is all a dream, though it’s a nice one if I might say so.
So I assume you mean more of a side story, like Halo 3 ODST.
It’s not a bad idea, but since the development cycle for a quality game is just so long, I don’t see it being practical unless 343 divides itself into different companies, or outsources a game entirely, kind of like how they do with Halo Wars.
Really wouldn’t be too offended on having a Halo release every year - but it just being a different genre of game every three years.
For instance (and I am just making this up)
Halo Wars 2 - 2017 (RTS)
Halo 6: Ascendence - 2018 (FPS)
Unannounced Halo title - 2019 (RPG)
