Title Update News:
In early January, they announced that they had started work on a title update for Halo 4.
That work is nearing completion, and it is expected to release within the next two weeks.
It addresses some of the concerns they have been hearing from the community, but just to set your expectations accordingly, they know they still have work to do.
There’s more balancing to be done and more issues to address, and they are actively working with the Halo 4 game team to investigate the feasibility of additional fixes.
343 will share the complete change list after it launches, but here are a few of the big ticket items:

• Reduced the range of the Boltshot’s damage scaling over distance. The previous effective range for 1-hit kills was 20’-25’. The range has been reduced to 15’.
• Fixed an issue that did not allow players to create respawn timers or disable instant respawn in custom games.
• Fixed issues with friendly fire against vehicles. If FF is disabled, damage / EMPs from friendly sources will no longer damage vehicles that are fully controlled by your team.

Keep an eye out for the complete change list once the TU is live.

Sniper&SWAT Update:
In other news, they will be reducing the score limit across the Team Snipers playlist from 60 kills to 50 kills (or 500 points) to account for the fact that instant respawn is disabled.
Also, all of you Lockout fans will be happy to know that Shutout will be added to the rotation in the SWAT playlist.
They will continue to add new Forge maps to existing playlists in future weeks to ensure that there are new map and game type combinations to explore.
Speaking of maps, we’ll also be removing the Crimson DLC playlist from the rotation on Monday in preparation for the upcoming map pack, but Crimson DLC maps will continue to appear throughout various Matchmaking playlists.

Walshy&Strongside&Gho57ayame Thoughts on Team Throwdown:

“Saying that I’m extremely excited about the Team Throwdown playlist would be an understatement.
I can personally attest to how much time, work and effort were put into these settings by the entire team, as well as the whole Halo community.
These maps, game types and settings bring out a classic, competitive feel, and even provide room for the evolution of a strategic skill gap.” - Eric " Gho57ayame " Hewitt

“I am excited to have a playlist that has the most competitive weapons, settings and maps that Halo 4 has to offer!”

  • David “Walshy” Walsh

“The first time I played these settings, I hit a quick scope to win a 49-49 standoff – what else can you ask for in a competitive playlist? You may not be able to get the rush of a tournament every day, but with this new playlist, you can experience the best competitive settings Halo 4 offers.
I like the Battle Rifle start, which adds a definitive skill gap.
I personally can’t wait to start dominating in Team Throwdown and get my level 50!" - Michael “StrongSide” Cavanaugh

So guys, this is BIG news on Halo 4.
It seems as though 343 Industries is finally listening to the community and that means ALL of the community. Competitive and Recreational.
I am very happy to hear MLG setting will be coming back in the form of Team Throwdown. All of this seems promising, and like they said, they are continuing these updates.

What are your thoughts?

I know I’m posting this everywhere but the misguided overreaction has to be quelled. Further this quality post is missing this important information update.

For clarity, Bravo @ 343i posted this over at NeoGAF:

> The personal ordnance enabled simply refers to the AAs (thruster, hologram, hardlight) that can be found in v2. This should not be a shock to anyone, and it clearly states that this is for v2 - it is not playlist wide.

> The alternate DMR-start settings will feature personal ordnance disabled.

He said he cant wait to get his 50!!! You know what that means!!! More motherfuck*ng ranks!!!

Does this help the shotgun in the pocket around corners?

CSR is 1-50, not in game but viewable through Waypoint web or app style.

Im surprised that over 75% of this community thought that 343i was ignoring us. Since launch it has been shown that 343i has been listening to us. The changes that we wanted as a community are also changes that take time to make and make sure they are done right. For one, this playlist was done with help from outside 343i and took feedback from all the different types of rule tweaking for competitive play that has been going on. Sure 343i could have whipped up a playlist and random updates that most likely would have failed to meet our expectations or even address the problem, but instead they took their time, and it looks very very very promising. Especially the hint at ranks which will definitely add to the competitive side of halo.

Where is the CG stuff.

Fix to Respawn Settings. I think that they’re making “Respawn Time” override instant spawning, but we’ll have to see when the TU is out.

Keep in mind that that’s just one of the “big-ticket items”. Other Custom Game fixes may be included, but might have been omitted from that brief list due to a lack of broader appeal. (Nearly every competitive player I’ve seen on these forums has been demanding an end to instant respawn. Haven’t seen as much vocal demand for other Custom-related features – outside of a certain thread, of course.)

Another things about Team Throwdown is that
there is no join in progress and no instant respawn.
Also, if you search in 3s, you will play 3v3. Same for
searching in 4s, obviously.

Can’t wait 'till Monday.

That is a nice feature. I am curious to try this playlist out although I have some major doubts already. We’ll see.

Thanks. I was about to start a thread to see if anyone knew for sure what was in the personal Ordnance. This clears that up.

Props for regurgitating the bulletin.

Haha thank you.

I am actually being serious here.

What makes those guys soooo special 343i talks to them about Halo 4 settings?

People like me that have been gaming probably longer then those players been alive can offer tons more insight and help to making Halo a better game.

Not being sarcastic or mean. Just saying. Honestly bet I could and would do a much better job at it.

i like it all execpt the br start. Rather have a dmr start personally.

Then again, I’ve always hated the br.

They’re all former Halo MLG pros. Walshy was competing in Halo CE, and the other two got into the MLG scene during H2.
