Biased matchmaking.

There has to be some sort of flaw in the search progress, I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems to put 3 not-so-good players + 1 fairly good player vs 4 superweapon campers.

Either that or it puts one team with 1-2 players who quit before the match even starts!

It’s really bugging me now since I’m usually paired with people who aren’t very good vs players my level or a bit lower. The most recent example was on an Asylum match, I got a 12 kill streak and ended with 14-3 but there were people who got like 3-20 and 5-11. The most annoying thing is, since people are always quitting on my team, I usually end up quitting if the other team are abusing noob tactics as well but it’s making me get a quit ban. I shouldn’t get banned for quitting a match that was clearly unfair.

It’s really annoying since pretty much all the games I’ve lost I’ve got a good K/D with deaths mainly under 10.

Sometimes I have had it where it’s put me in a game where no one knew how to aim or melee so I ended up with 36 kills. It just seems to me a bit unfair. Anyone else with this happening?

  1. It’s called weapon control. I’m not going to let you have a PW so you can use it on me or my team. That’s just stupid gameplay.

  2. Stop playing with randy, he’s garbage 90% of the time. Get some or make some friends that play Halo:Reach and party up. inb4idon’tneedonlinefriendstoplayhalo:reach. Obviously you do.

I know I sound like a dbag, but that’s what seeing these types of threads do. They bring out the dbag in me

Head over to the Recruit section. People are always looking for other people to party up with.

Welcome to Waypoint. XP

There really isn’t a “true skill” system in Reach like there was in previous games.

And there really isn’t any such thing as a noob tactic. If the other team had map or weapon spawn control over your team, it’s because they were better at it, period.

people quit all the time and if your expecting random team mates to suit your play style, support and assist you at all time or even to be good at the game the you are mistaken friend.

as ninja said go into games with a team.

Just one of those things. I doubt there will be a system which would work perfectly for everyone. There will always be all sorts of players, and they will be thrown into the mix whether they be good/bad/noob or whatever. A matter of luck I suppose. People are supposed to set their search preferences anyway when they want to suit a particular play-style, or play with a certain set of players. When searching for a game next time, there should be some preferences somewhere which will allows to set options such as preferring to working a team, whether you are chatty and what not. Perhaps that might help to some degree to filter out some decent players.

Don’t know if it would help, but it might help to filter out proper players from the ones you might be having trouble with maybe. The system isn’t the best one in the world.

This consistently happens to me in Invasion. I get matched against a team of skilled high rank players, and on my team I get a Sergeant and Warrant Officer who don’t know how to play the gametype.

Watch this and quit your whining.

Seriously, it’s no big deal if your entire team quits or if you get matched up with 2 recruits and a SGT. grade 2 vs. 2 Inheritors a Nova and a Field Marshall. Rank has nothing to do with skill in Reach, only with armor and how much time they spent playing.

  1. You can set Search Restrictions to Skilled to get people more of your rank.

  2. You need to know when the Power Weapons spawn so the next spawn time pick up the Power Weapon.

  3. If you need a good player to play with send me a friend request.

Alright, I’m going to try no to go on a huge rant like half the others did…deep breath

Matchmaking: Try making friends (just listen!) If you’re in a party with someone, and you play with them a lot, you get to know how each other plays, and what they’re best at. I’ll take me and my friend (who will remain anon for now), we’ve both been playing since the first days of Halo 3. We recently started playing together more often.

I can tell you right off the top of my head, I know what weapons he’s best with (Sniper, Sword, DMR, Pistol, Needle Rifle). He tends to go for the long distance headshot kills but can do some close quarters when he needs to.

Me? I’m more of the aggressive, melee, close quarters kinda guy. My best weapons are the AR, DMR, Needle Rifle, Shotgun, Sword, and Stealth (If you can count that).

How we deal with “camping noobs”? I go in, and start attacking, draw them out somehow, then I’ll hit them with AR fire and strip their shields while my friend takes the headshot for the kill. I only get an assist, but it’s another point on the scoreboard for my team.

Weapon Control: Sometimes, it’s worth it to take the power weapons, just so they don’t get used against you. If you see the rockets just laying there, grab 'em. Take the one or two free kills that comes with them and then find another DMR or Pistol that are always laying around the map.

The Real Thing: is being able to play with other people well. Come up with a call out system when you finally have some new friends. Learn how to be a better player as opposed to expecting it to happen. A better player isn’t someone who always has a positive K/D (although that’s part of it.)

My Best Advice?: If you don’t like your team, gather some friends and make your own. But be prepared, if you have a full party, the game will (most likely, though there are exceptions) match you with a full party.

So much for not ranting, huh?

Well, I didn’t expect you lot to get so annoyed over this, I know the party thing works, I just thought it should be a little bit more balanced when random matchmaking. Like I said earlier as well, it’s not all unfair to me, I said I sometimes get it were it puts me in a match with people who obviously aren’t too good and so I just end up destroying them.

It’s mainly I get it when I clearly have all of the opposing team distracted and all my teammate has to do is throw a couple of grenades in to get something like a triple kill. Seems all that ever happens is they watch me get killed, run in when there’s no chance of getting any kills themselves and dying.

No. Do you realize that players at that low of rank have only played a double digit number of games? You can’t understand how all the gametypes work with that little experience.
