BF3 Ariel Combat > Halo Ariel Combat

Any BF3 Jet or Helicopter Pilots out there?

In future halo titles I would like to see a much better ariel combat system and a higher skill gap for Ariel vehicles.

Dogfighting and doing strafe runs in a BF3 Jet vs Dogfighting and doing strafe runs in a Banshee honestly makes halos Ariel vehicles seem like child’s play. It almost depresses me.

In the future a Halo “Fighter Jet class” would make for a great addition to the solid ground game play that Halo so well delivers.

Anyone in the community agree on this?

No thanks. Halo’s aerial combat is just fine the way it is. It doesn’t have to be as realistic as Battlefield to be fun.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Battlefield’s simmy aerial combat. However -sim-like combat has NO PLACE in Halo’s arcade mechanics.

No thanks, current ariel combat is fine.

BF3 Ariel Combat is not even realistic. It just has a high skill gap, and implements more skill orientated things than does halo’s Ariel combat. It requires almost no skill to pilot a banshee. I honestly feel like a limited child after flying a jet in BF3 and than coming into halo and flying the banshee.

I’m a pretty good pilot in Bf3 and when it comes to jets the only skill I know of is being able to out turn your opponent when you’re in combat with another jet. Then again air radar sure helps out a lot with that

Helis in bf3 and falcons in halo for me. Would love this. Getting “real man” sprees would be that much more epic.

Using the vehicles in Halo is supposed to be an easy to use, but hard to master affair. People like that, and it should stay that way. This isn’t Battlefield. This is Halo.

LOL

Um…no, thank you??

Uuuh, you mean wheelman sprees?

An option for a first-person mode for vehicles would actually be pretty fun.

That and it is hard as -Yoink- to figure out how to fly the damn jets and heli’s in BF3, took me weeks to figure it out then hackers and all that noise started their -Yoink-.

OT: I think Sabres, long-swords, and saraphs fill the role of jets. And arial combat is just fine the way it is, besides arial combat in BF3 kinda sucks.

Yeah I don’t know why they are called “real man” (also why I quoted it), but that is how it is so no reason to be an -Yoink- about it. But there are so much poor pilots in Reach, if I was your pilot I think you would appreciate it. Same thing in Bf3, when I’m passenger with a bad pilot (which is very easy to tell), I’m getting ready to press B.

Oh I wasn’t trying to be mean, I was just really confused. I’ve never heard that medal before.

Short answer? No.
Long answer? No, BF3 is BF3, Halo doesn’t need BF3-type Arial combat because it wouldn’t fit the maps, they’re too small and too convoluted for that, BF3 has high sky-boxes and very open maps, Halo’s maps aren’t as open, have a lot of high walls, a rather low sky-box and plenty of obstacles, using BF3 mechanics in a Banshee on say, Blood Gulch, which is a straight line with a rather low sky box, would be a bad idea, you’d be crashing everywhere, it needs to be simple because if it wasn’t than you wouldn’t be able to use the vehicle in the first place and you’d just be getting yourself killed all the time.
BF3 is vehicle focused, Halo isn’t.

Theyre called wheelman sprees in reach there is no realman spree

Are you kidding me? Aiming and leading targets. Following enemy aircraft, and evading enemy aircraft. Evasive Maneuvers such as the split s, immelan, vertical and normal scissors, yo -yo etc. Flying Under Radar(Close to the ground. Knowing how to properly use counter measures( specifically ECM Jammer). Knowing how to strafe run/hit infantry targets with the Jet. The list goes on and on.

None of these fit Halo, they can’t. all of these features are for big maps.
