A few days ago I was playing on Halo 3 through backwards compatibility, getting some games in (or more accurately, waiting for ages & hoping to find a match) before the shutdown of the servers at the end of the year, and in a social team slayer match on Snowbound, two players on my team immediately left the match which isn’t uncommon but it got stranger from there as it appeared like two players on the opposing enemy team were mindlessly walking forward & when one of my teammates killed one they dropped a shotgun and when I picked it up, it appeared not lose ammo as I got a double kill with it and it wouldn’t reload, showing I had full ammo almost like it had a bottomless clip which is impossible during matchmaking, then the game suddenly ended, literally, the announcer said the normal “Game Over” but the game hadn’t reached 50 kills from either team to actually prompt the game to end.
I found it weird but didn’t really think much of it until I backed out to the matchmaking lobby when I noticed I had ranked up, but I went from a major straight to general, when I went to check my card, it showed that I had an obscene amount of XP which didn’t reflect my actual skill level, it’s clear to say there was a modder on the opposing team in that match who did this, I booted up my xbox 360 just to bring up the recent players list and file a complaint against who I suspect was the modder in question, but it probably won’t make a difference considering the 360 titles don’t have support anymore.
I’m genuinely upset by this, I was proud of my actual XP and rank I achieved from playing Halo 3 back in the day and now it’s been ruined by somebody who doesn’t like playing games as they should be played, I haven’t touched Halo 3 since then because I feel like there isn’t a point to it when people who browse the lobby during the pre-game will see a fake and mutated representation of me, I know this sounds a little too dramatic but I cared a lot about this.
[tl;dr]Be careful if you’re going to play for fun or to rank up on Halo 3 because there are some bad actors online who can mess up the games you play and your rank you hold.

Thanks for the tip haha, I don’t have the need to play old school Halo 3 because it’s in the MCC, but good to know that I don’t need to load it up on 360 anymore.
If you think that’s bad, you should see the CoD lobbies for like MW2 or WaW on 360. They’re ridiculous and are full of all those j-tagged Xbox’s with modders and hackers and infected hosts.

I suspect that’s what happened to me on Halo: Reach years ago though I cannot prove it and haven’t gotten any answers to this day. I was Forerunner/Reclaimer then overnight I became Inheritor.
Yeah lol, happened to me recently when i decided to go back to the ol 360. Servers are really damaged, like beyond repair even if 343 did try to fix em, which they will not being doing. (That’s for the people that keep buggin me bout 343 should be fixin the 360 servers). It’s more off of negelct then server modders. It’s not really fun to play on those anymore cuz everyone either lags out, quits, or is AFK. I’m still surprised people are still even in those games. The weird glitches too, like unlimited ammo are things im having only in H3 to clarify.

That’s really bizarre, not heard of that happening in Halo before.

It doesn’t, it’s more to do with showing off what they can do, it’s especially destructive to the normal person they do it to because it revokes that sense of accomplishment they would’ve felt with their original legitimate rank, replacing it with an irreversible blatantly fake rank.

Ohh that makes sense. How sad. People are pathetic.
that happened to me too a few years ago. a modder was making social slayer into a big team lobby (which was awesome when we hit the pit and guardian, etc.) and it messed our xp up and made everyone generals. i guess it was worth it. i played like 10 big team games in social. super fun playing on team slayer maps.
