Better with real wepons worse I get at FPS!

I am wondering if someone can help me. In the real world I have gone from shotgun to now bow hunting and taking up paintball. The more I practice the better my shot is getting. I am noting my skills in shooting games keeps going down. I get frustrated and stop. Before I have this happen on Halo I want to ask for help now.

I think I know the issue from playing on live. That is my movements are was to quick and I am moving faster then my targets. This is getting me very messed up. A player might move a foot. I just tap my controller and my gun is moving 3 feet.

How can I get this better in sync? Way back in day of Halo and Halo 2 I could play Legendary and do well. I have had to go down to playing normal because my aim is so bad on moving targets.

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to Waypoint! I moved this thread to General Discussion that is the place for general gaming related stuff like this. The Halo Waypoint forum is for discussion about issues related to the website and the App.

I can’t really help you with your issue. When using guns in real life, such as in paintball, the movements you do are quite drastic compared to the thumb movements you need with the controller. That’s quite probably the reason; your experience with real guns contradicts how you should function in the game.

As your issue seems to be over adjusting your aim, I would recommend moving to a lower sensitivity. Aside from that, I don’t think there are really other solutions other than to play more. But then again, playing paintball is a good thing. Even at the cost of your FPS skills, it’s a healthy choice.

Thanks I will give that a try and see what happens.

Yep I just started paintball not too long ago. Finding a very good way to get out and get some exerciser. Mostly after big games and playing for 2 or more hours strait. My body might not like me after it. Long run know it will be a lot better for my body.

Dude, a little tip, try not to link weapon movement in real life with video games. The only thing that you learn in paintball, hunting, and target shooting, that you should apply to video games is Situational awareness.
Keep your eyes moving until you see your target, keep your head on a swivel.
The main reason why I’m good at Halo with out even trying is because I don’t focus on one thing very long, as soon as I see my target, I shoot at him until he’s dead, but between shots I check my Ammo, radar, grenades, health, shields, and my FOV, and then I reaim, and fire.

This is also how I’m able to hit my targets at long range. Thank god for hit markers.
