Anyone notice in Halo 4 the teams don’t balance out before you start the game if someone drops out?
Lets say I’m playing a game of heavies which allows up to 12 players. Lets say two drop out. Instead of the game making it a 5v5 which would be fair, it fills another team up and leave the other at a disadvantage. Halo 4 would make the game a 6v4 in this case.
For Halo 5 we need the games to be balanced on every front. Including at the start up of the game.
Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know what the rational behind this is?
yes, i’m absolutely with you on this one.
it is beyond annoying, especially on objective-type games.
my suggestion would be, that the starting process of a match
gets delayed or even broken up if the teams are unequal filled
& it restarts to search for other players. there should be
some kind of…“barrier” that prevents starting a match if the
teams are unequal filled.
No rationale, just major developer oversight.
Aside from that they should copy Call of Duty’s lobby system, where the game won’t start until both sides are even.
Delayed, maybe. What happens when the population for a playlist is low and it takes upwards of five minutes to find a match and people dashboard it?
Disbanding a game in the lobby isn’t really fair either-- basically every game of halo 4 I’ve played since release, at least one person has quit out. I’d have played a total of ten games if that was a feature in h4.
Honestly there’s not really a clear solution. Bring back penalties from quitting (aside from the slap on the wrist for quitting too many games.)
As far as rationale goes, they probably expected JIP to fill the void. They missed on that one, though, as JIP was another decent experiment but half baked in implementation. The whole healthy population didn’t help things, either.
I’m not sure fixing it in the lobby is the appropriate answer… what if 6 players of a 12-team game quit? It happens… Would you want to play 3v3 when you’re really looking for something bigger?
I can’t posit any solutions, as JIP doesn’t belong in all playlists, nor am I a network engineer or even a developer. I just wanted to acknowledge it’s a bit of a sticky wicket and has been for pretty much every Halo title.
My thoughts MCC hates me Halo 5 needs batter team balancing. I constantly get pared with a team that are lower then my skill level and put against teams that just destroy the team of noobs that I have to drag cause the game gives me teams of; me :17 team: 1, 4, 8. enemy team: 15, 15, 15, 13. and games like that are not balanced and one team always gets steaked. I know in the beta they improved balancing with gold silver bronze etc. Which from my view worked better than 1-50 numbers but I don’t recall what the in game team balancing has like.

No no. They should copy NOTHING from CoD.
And besides, games don’t start if they aren’t even. The problem is people quit AFTER the game is set up and starting.
