Better Menu Music

I have to agree, that there was something up with the To Galaxy track for the Infinity section of the menu.

Maybe because it was too upbeat/energetic when compared to the Main menu music?

If I was ever just idling on the menus, I would always return to the Main one because the music was better to listen to.

To Galaxy is a good track, just not for the menu.

Disagree.

I think the “sad” chanting of Halo 4 fits the themes of the new trilogy much better.

I still gets chills when I hear the Halo 2 menu music! Something with a more “Classic” Halo sound would be much appreciated!

I don’t think there was anything wrong with Halo 4’s menu music. It’s just too gosh-darn loud.

Marty O’Donnell. That is all.

Or how about the option to turn off the music?

Halo 2 menu music was the best of the lot. It captured the overall essence of Halo’s story as well as the game’s single player campaign.

I don’t like to be that guy who wants the exact replica of Halo 3 but boy was it’s menu music just perfection. Even if it’s just for nostalgic purposes, bring it back. I couldn’t care less whether it fits the theme of the new trilogy or not. Anything but the menu music from Halo 4, it drives me insane…

I had no problems with it but all i think it was too loud

> I had no problems with it but all i think it was too loud

Yes, it was too loud, it felt like they was trying to blow out my ear drums.

i want the halo 3 song back, it was a million times better, best song in any game! i go on halo 3 just to hear it, brings back so many memories of good times on the games, maybe change it slightly but have it as the base song but change it to how they want it and maybe make it sound slightly more futuristic almost, if tha makes sense… dunno if it does but anyway

Not to sound harash to the composer but it never stoped or like went silent for some seconds it just looped hehe.

Yes, and with headphones, it sounded like I needed ear plugs to listen to it safely.

Really? I never had a problem with it and I’m not one to shy away from 11. Is it just that I’m not turning it 12?

And to the general subject here, I loved the Halo 4 soundtrack. I’ll even go so far to say that, while fun at the time, Marty’s stuff wasn’t terribly well put together. ODST was fine but CE and Halo 2 swung wildly from monks to stabbing noises with electric guitars, and while it just so happens that I like that sort of thing in some of the other music I listen to I don’t like it when the shifts are more binary than synthesized. For what it did to make Halo sound like Halo, creating a recognizable character isn’t quite the same as supporting the narrative or establishing a coherent tone.

I think Neil Davidge and company did a MUCH better job at scoring Halo and I’m glad to see that content grace the menus, even beyond 11, because, well, there’s worth things to be deafened by.

I quite like Halo 4’s music and I think the chanting woman fits well as a theme for the new story.
The only issue I have with H4’s menu music is that it is limited to only two songs what becomes dull after a while.

Yet Halo 2/3s theme didn’t get dull for a vast majority of the community. I didn’t like Halo 4’s menu music so I can’t agree with you. If you think it got dull then you may be lying to yourself when you say you quite liked it. Music shouldn’t get dull. It should provide ambiance and pump you up to play.

Two songs? Bah back in my day we were lucky if we got anything more than a looped four note diddy and a beating (while churning our own butter uphill to school both ways, mind you kids were built tougher in those days…)

TBH, I truly disliked the Halo 4 Main Menu theme b/c it didn’t have the “Halo feeling” as the previous trilogy did. If Halo 5 has the original halo theme, with the Gregorian monk chant, that would truly make my day.

I agree with you 100%, my good sir.

Would stand up and applaud 343 for this.
