Better idea for Earnable Credits:

Ok so 343 announced Credits will be earnable in the Season 2 battlepass, this leaves 2 big problems still:

  1. Free players STILL won’t be able to earn credits

  2. The battlepass credits WILL be finite, meaning you can run out, and odds are they’ll be so little in the unlocks it won’t even matter.

I propose my master plan:

Bring back Daily challenges, HOWEVER make it so Daily challenges are 100% separated from Weeklies.

5 Daily Challenges a day, each worth 400 credits for completion, 5 days of full clearing daily challenges will guarantee you the weekly shop item. Not too overpowered, but leaves enough for players to get smaller items they may be interested in while saving for the big items AND because they are challenge based and reset, infinite access to free credits, which will remove the FOMO that 343 said WOULDN’T be in Infinite.

EDIT: Ok I did my math wrong, so let’s say 2 challenges a day for 400 credits. After going back and redoing my math, I realized I was wrong lol. So 800 Credits a day I think that’s fair.

??? Where did you hear them say premium BP? I read BP, not premium

So 2000 a day, 14000 a week? That’s your master plan?
Unless you meant 40 credits
200 per day, 1400 per week. That would make more sense.

But still not a good plan imo. Challenges are just plain bad, credits should be earned straight through gameplay (at a slow rate of course)

No, what needs to happen is for them to follow through with their own words

Wow, 2k credits every day. You’re joking right? And you want to force people to play 5 days a week to get the weekly? I’m sorry, but this is not a better idea.

I don’t think 343 has any intention for free players to earn credits. Most other service games will reimburse you an amount of premium currency when you buy the premium pass. More details have yet to be announced, but I think OPs assumption is a pretty reasonable position.

I’m expecting it to be on the premium pass. Fortnite does this. However, I only ever paid for one battle pass in Fortnite, I could then earn enough to pay for future passes each season. I hope it’s the same in halo.

We don’t actually know what there plans are right now. As a company, Microsoft doesn’t seem to be against rewarding non-paying users. The rewards center in a three month period will give you enough points to buy the battle pass and a few store items if you do it often enough, and then Infinite will see you as a paying customer. I’m not saying they will reward free users in Infinite, it just wouldn’t surprise me is all.

Also, Activision has some free rewards in their battle passes. It’s not a ton, but after a seasons you’ll be able to save up to buy the premium battle pass, and from there on out you can buy all season passes.

No I meant 400 per challenge. That way when 343 inevitably drops another 2k credit item you can actually earn it.

I agree credits should be earned through basic gameplay but challenges are really the only idea I see working that makes the PLAYERS happy, which is what should be prioritized. A fair amount of credits PER challenge would definitely boost the player happiness levels.

EDIT: Sorry reread your comment and redid my math, you were right.

Wait 2K a day, did I do my math wrong? I meant for it to be 2K after 5 days.

100% agreed. Personally I think Infinite should’ve been delayed another year, been a fully paid game for Campaign AND multiplayer and dropped the garbage, unwanted microtransactions all together.

Totally agree that they should be earned through gameplay but I think it would be better if it was straight through the game, not challenges. I don’t think there should be a limit on how many items you can earn or that you have to do a “challenge” to get them. They should just be earned through playing the game (slowly of course)

You said 5 challenges a day, each worth 400 credits. I think even at 2,000 credits a week it would be more than we should reasonably expect. People would be able to get so much of the store content for free that the number of buyers would drop dramatically.

343 doesn’t NEED the store, and they also promised no FOMO would be in Infinite, which was a blatant lie. My idea removes FOMO by giving ALL players, free AND paid the ability to get ALL the weekly shop items.

The problem with slow earning is FOMO., which 343 promised wouldn’t happen with Infinite, that’s why I didn’t take into account slow unlocks in my idea, because it’s bad.

I must not be understanding. Why wouldn’t they need the store? Revenue from campaign sales won’t be enough for long term maintenance and future development. How does what you are proposing leave any motivation to pay? Of course giving everything away for free will take out the FOMO, but I think there are other ways to do that while still leaving enticing purchases.

The game is f2p, yes, they do need the store

“If I don’t hop on every day and get those challenges, I’m going to miss out”
That is literally FOMO

The rate of earning could be the same as your rate, except that there is no limit, which gets rid of the FOMO. You can miss a few days of playing and then come back and play a lot other days and get the same amount as someone who plays regularly every day. No FOMO because you know that there is no limit so you can always catch back up.
With your system, people will have FOMO because there is a limit to how much you can earn

343 never needed microtransactions, no AAA dev does. Nintendo is proof of this, make a good game, put a price tag on the full game, and people will buy it, and if it’s good enough people will buy it upwards of 5 separate times.

The entire reason Halo Infinite is lacking core features is because it’s clear more time was put into the store than actually designing the rest of the game. We need to go back to when games were full at launch and in-game purchases didn’t exist, we need GOOD games to make a comeback.

100 Credits a week is far more believable. We will never get anywhere near 800 credits a day.

Not true.

Only in as far as the battle pass content is concerned. They never said anything about not having fomo about events, shop, preorders, limited time offers etc.

Guys are literally arguing against getting VBucks to get armor? What

Of course no AAA dev needs MTX, they just do that because it is a proven better revenue source. And when the game is f2p, they do NEED the store, otherwise the game would die. The game is f2p, so you can either suck it up and deal with it or stop playing.
And you still haven’t responded to my previous post.
