I wasn’t sure where this fit into other threads, so I wanted to mention it here. For as long as I’ve been playing Halo, there’s always been an issue where teammates would shoot you in the back/mele/nade you in order to get you one shot and thus making you an extremely easy kill, while avoiding this counting as a betrayal. This meant that since the system didn’t see them as betraying you, you weren’t given the opportunity to kick them from the game, even though you probably wouldn’t have died had you not already been one-shot when the opposing player spotted you.
It would be nice if the system could tell when this was happening and if not count it as a betrayal, have some kind of counter that would allow it to count toward a betrayal. Something like if your teammate gets you one-shot say 3 times, that counts as one betrayal. That way if they happen to nade you accidentally or shoot you while trying to shoot a member of the opposing team, this wouldn’t count as an automatic betrayal, but if it is on-going throughout the game, you would eventually be able to kick them. It’s incredibly frustrating when you lose because your teammate decides it’d be more fun to shoot you in the back the entire game than trying to actually kill the opposing team, but you can’t boot him because he’s not actually finishing those kills. Sure you can report them, but that doesn’t do you any good while the game is still going on, so you’re forced to either quit and have the game count against you as a loss, or take the L even though the game might’ve been winnable had they actually tried to kill the opposing team rather than their own teammates.
I apologize for the rant, but this has been bugging me for a while and I just lost a game of doubles due to my teammate contributing to half my deaths (2 betrayals plus multiple instances of blatant team-shooting/nading) yet still sending me messages (one of which mid-game) calling me names and saying the loss was my fault even though I had 10 of our 14 kills, a better K/D (although only slightly due to him getting me killed multiple times) and better accuracy. Had there been some way of booting him, I might’ve at least had a shot at winning since I wouldn’t have had to worry about dying to anyone besides the other team.
